Just had a "budget" question. We want to bring "food" into the parks. Now we don't want to bring in sandwiches, but food like crackers, goldfish, etc. We wanted to know if the security of WDW now in place, will they make you dump in at the entrance? I know they check EVERYTHING now at the front of the park, (including opening my camera case), just wanted to know, so I will not hold up anyone behind me coming into the park, and to be embarassed to death!
THANKS!

You can bring food. You can pack sandwiches if you want. We always haul in water, granola bars and fruit snacks - four year olds with low blood sugar isn't pretty.

The guard checks bags. They aren't looking for food.

There is some debate around here over "how much is too much" (canned corn, anyone?) Full sized coolers won't be let in.

I brought peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in daily as well as other snacks and drinks. I never had a problem and I saved a ton of money NOT buying lunches. Yes we still bought ice cream, waters...

I always have in my backpack:

2 p, b & j sandwiches
baggie of grapes
goldfish
pretzels
4 bottles of water
gum (you can't buy it at WDW)
lollipops

Security inspects my bag and has never said anything.

We always bring in frozen pizza and heat it up on the Liberty Square Riverboat engines.

While you can "get away with" bringing food into the parks, as far as I know (that is unless the policy has changed since I last checked it) Officially it is against the rules.

Now that said, don't worry about bringing in a few snacks. I do it myself at times.

Last year I saw a family seated in the food cart area in Liberty Square opening tins of food to eat. They were lugging around a wheeled suitcase that was loaded with all kinds of canned goods and drinks. If they got past security with their "supermarket on wheels", I don't think you will have any problems bringing in a few snacks.
BTW, my DD has diabetes and I always carry snacks with me for her in case she has an insulin reaction. I have never had a problem with security and they have never questioned me on what the snacks were for.

Thanks for all the responses. Will try to bring in some snacks, etc.
A friend of mine works for Pepperidge Farms, and gives me free stuff all the time: goldfish, malano cookies, etc, so I'll bring some of those in and a few waters. At least save a little on food.
It will be HOT in 21 or so days at WDW! Will have to splurge on Mickey Bar! Love those things!

Okay, I just have to ask. What are "goldfish" in this context? As a Brit I have a horrible image of Nemo!

haha yes goldfish are food, little crackers in the shape of fish, kids love them.

Thank goodness for that!

i must try them when i go in 2005.. I was surprised the 1st time I went to the US , the food is quite different . I found the 'cookies' especially yummy . try the pecan shorties. i must try these ''goldfish''. My daughter loved the 'granola' cereal and my son loved the bagels. my son was happy as long as he had sweets ... american or british !

they're cheddar crackers in the shape of fish (the pizza ones, while salty, are especially good!).
PF "used to" have a jingle for the goldfish crackers (haven't heard it recently), something to the effect of "they smile at you til you bite their heads off".
ewwwwwwwww :teeth:

Thank you for that. It gave me a good giggle.
