DM now in Fla. we will meet up with her to go on the Wonder this Thursday.

She want to bring an open bottle of Crown Royal.

Can we do that and take it off

Thanks
Linda

Yes,

Carry on in your carry-on bag or suitcase. Protect from breakage or leakage. No problems...

I thought I read that you couldn't take opened liquor off the ship? I'm specifically thinking of the wine package. They told us we'd have to consume or throw out anything we opened on the ship. We could take any upopened bottles with us.

I guess the worst that could happen is they take it from you. Not exactly what I'd like to have happen with a bottle of Crown Royal!

I have got the easy answer here - be a good daughter (assuming you are of legal drinking age) and help her finish it. Problem solved.

Hi Juli! :wave2:

I was thinking the same thing, but then I thought that this was related to the alcohol you purchase on board...if it's open it can't count towards your "duty free"?

*confused*

I say finish it, then you don't have to worry! *wink*

As far as I know, you cannot bring open liquor off the ship or will be potentially subject to duties. Here is the scenario: you leave the ship with the open bottle and customs asks you to open your suitcase and sees the bottle. Presumption can/will be that you bought the bottle outside the United States and you will be potentially liable for duties (this part MAY not be a big issue if you are under the liquor allowance anyway). However, in most states, it is illegal to be in possession of open liquor in a wide range of places including a private motor vehicle. So, if you got stopped by the police and had it, even in the trunk, you could be open to legal problems. All that said, you probably might not have a problem if it was in checked luggage and it would not be a customs problem if you planned on it and declared it (especially if you had a US receipt for it). Maybe you should ask DCL. Personally, I would not risk it.

I don't think you can bring open items on or off board. One of our 12/18 cruisers has a service dog, and she was told she can't bring an open bag of dog food on or off board.

I'm CERTAIN you can't bring an open bottle of liquor off with you, because we were told to pour out some that we had bought in Grand Cayman before we left.

You are welcome to bring liquor on and off with you, but it can't be opened.

Customs does not allow opened foodstuffs(including liquor) or any unpackaged fruits/veggies ANY kind to be brought ashore. Has to do with bringing foreign, potentially damaging bugs and such to this country.

I've brought open bottles of alcohol on board and taken them off with me in my carry-on. I buy plastic bottles and put them in a plastic bag, also, just to be careful!
