Can you borrow points to rent them?

Our 7 month window is coming up in 10 days and my friend has agreed to rent me 50 points to give me enough points to make my two reservation as I don't have quite enough. The thing is her UY is December so she'd need to borrow them. Do MS allow you to borrow points and then make a ressie in someone roses name?

If she is making a reservation and putting it in your name, then yes.

If she wants to transfer the points to you, then no as you cannot transfer borrowed points.

The only exception would be if they were points transfered in from some one else

2 issues:

1) as the others have said, if you can make a reservation with pts (banked, current, borrowed or transferred in), then you can rent out that reservation. (you cannot actually "rent points" - that is how we talk but it's a misnomer - you can only "rent" a reservation).

2) using pts from a december 2010 UY to book a reservation in june 2011 is not borrowing pts in the first place. those are actually current year pts because they are being used in the dec 2010 UY - which is the period from dec 1, 2010 to nov 30, 2011.

it's a common misconception but UY has nothing to do with when a DVC member calls to make a reservation. to make a june 2011 reservation, you can use banked pts from dec 2009, current pts from dec 2010 or borrowed pts from dec 2011...

It could be, if the points being used for the June 2011 reservation are from her friends Dec 2011 UY. OP doesn't mention what UY the friends points are coming from, just that she has a Dec UY.

I am assuming that she wants to book a resort that is not her home resort. You can only book your home resort (where you own) at 11 months. All other reservations can only be made at 7 months out.

I know from experience, you cannot transfer borrowed points.
