Can you book without points?

We have decided to go the end of this January for the EE opening. Yesterday I called member services and they said they did have a studio available. I only have 29 borrowed points and the ressie requires 42. I am trying to get 13 points on the rental board, but I was wondering if first thing Monday morning, I can call and just book, and stay the last night on cash, and then change if/when I get the 13 points. Can I do that to secure the reservation. I had to come home and talk to my husband before I made the reservation.
