We are on the waitlist for HH in September.
We are debating whether or not we should reserve something just in case it doesn't come through.
Does MS allow you to do this and then change it later if waitlist comes through?

ANyone done this or have advice?
I would hate to have vacation time and no ressies. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I am not 100% positive, but I believe this can be done....I think it would make most sense because that way if your original plan does not come through, then at least you have something booked.

I just had the same thing happen. I wanted to book for december 6-8 at BW to attend our homeowners meeting. They were booked and said i could go on a waiting list. I said "what if it doesn't come thru. Can I go ahead and book for another place?" They said that I couldn't because if the waitlist comes thru, they automatically take it from my points and then I would have ressies at both places.

We opted to just stay somewhere else (coronado) because I wasn't willing to risk the waitlist not coming thru and then all the other resorts being booked.

Wow, really?
I just got off the phone with MS and was told that they will call us if the waitlist comes through and we can take it or decline it.
They also told me I have till 31 days to make changes without penalty and that is when the list expires, so I could book somewhere else in the meantime.
I booked at OKW for those days and if the list comes through and they call I can drop OKW or keep it and decline.

MS was very helpful and informative about this.
I talked to Sally if that helps!!!

Kamgen, if you feel more secure w/a ressie at OKW, then keep it and go on the waitlist for BWV.
they have 2 methods now for the waitlist, one is the automatic, which is new, they just book it when it becomes available, so the points need to be available for that! they don't call, they just send you a surprise confirmation in the mail.
the old way is that they will call you when it becomes avail, and you have 24hrs to get back to them, w/your decision, however if you miss the call, and don't get the message, you are SOL !!! cause they drop you from the waitlist!

when you go on a waitlist, they give you the option of automatic or a phone call. I've done both ways, first time I had an alternate booked at OKW, and then dropped it when they called and said my BWV became avail (however I almost didn't get the message! yikes!!!)

and the second time I opted for the automatic, cause I didn't want to risk not getting the message,a nd losing out, so I cancelled my VWL ressie, and went on the automatic wait for BWV (I was stressed, but it came through, all 8 nights in just 3 days!!! :))
I didn't have enough points to hold a ressie at VWL, and then have enough avail to get the BWV automatically.

If you have enough points to have 2 places booked at once, then keep one ressie, and go on automatic waitlist for the other, than when the waitlist comes through you can drop the other one, you just have to make sure you do so before the cancellation penalty period!!

I hope this all makes sense!!! :)

Laura :)

It sure does Laura, thanks!!

I am fine with OKW.

We are on the waitlist for Hilton Head, but will go to Florida instead if that is all that is available. We are going for 4 days before our cruise. We initially thought of HH because it would be a change for us and it is only arouynd 6 hours from port.

But, OKW is fine with me! I just wanna go! :)

Is that really how it works?

We're on a waitlist (automatic booking) for BWV for 5 days in November. Meanwhile, we have OKW booked. There didn't seem to be a problem with this.

Which days in Nov are you waiting for? I'm waiting for 8-14. Got reservations at VWL for now. On the will call waiting list.

We are on the "will call" witlist for VB from July 29-Aug.2 and are booked at VWL in the meantime. I figure if the ressie doesn't become available at 31 days prior to arrival then we will just spend almost another week at WDW! IMHO, a win-win situation!!!!! We check-in at OKW on July 22!!!! Can't wait!!

Two hours ago, I called to add days on to the beginning of our existing BWV ressie for Dec., they did not have a one bedroom available at BWV for the days that I wanted but they did have one available at OKW.

I reserved the room at OKW and asked if I could be put on the waitlist for the room at BWV.

She asked me if I wanted automatic booking or call back. She explained to me that if I did automatic booking, they would cancel my existing OKW ressie and make the BWV one instead if the room became available. She even told me that if the waitlist came through they would have to borrow an additional 28 points. :D

I'm hoping this is correct..... either way we have the points to cover but I'd rather not have to worry about cancelling a ressie if I don't have to.

Has anyone else heard about them cancelling one to make the other? Hopefully the CM wasn't wrong.
