ANyone know?

I know I can't do it on the website but what about over the phone?

When can you usually book for the upcoming year?:wizard:

I'm pretty sure you can book on the phone, but the prices don't officially come out until July/August. So the price may go up and you'd have to pay the difference.

You can book 499 days in advance by calling. So if you are planning on later in 2009 you probably can't reserve a room yet. If you can make the reservation now you can make a room only reservation. You will be charged a one night deposit based on the 2008 peak rate for the resort. Then when the real rates and packages are released you will be informed of what the real rate is, and can rebook to a package if that is what you want.

We're planning a June 2009 trip and were also wondering when the 2009 rates would be out.

You can book a room only reservation right now. The rate you will be given is the 2008 rate. You will be required to pay a deposit equal to your first night's stay.

The last two years, the rates have been released mid-August.

If you have your heart set on a particular resort, I would suggest you go ahead and book a room only reservation. This way, you are assured you will get the resort you want.

When the 2009 rates come out, you have two choices.

1) You can keep your room only reservation and your rate will automatically be adjusted. I don't believe that you can make payments online when you book a room only reservation. I may be wrong but I believe you may have to call to make payments. ***Don't quote me on the payment part but I am sure somebody can either confirm or correct me.

2) You can call Disney reservations and ask tell them you would like to book a package. Tell them that you already have a room only reservation. They can not change the room only to a package.

They will cancel your room only reservation and then book your package. You will be refunded your room only reservation deposit. The refund is not immediate and your room only deposit can not be credited to the package price. The time delays on your room only refund depends on how you paid...i.e. credit card, debit card, etc.

You will be required to pay a $200.00 deposit (that's what it has been the last two years so I assume it will be the same for 2009) within fourteen days from the date you booked the package.

You can begin making payments on your package anytime after the deposit is made. The only requirement is that the minimum payment must be $20.00. You must pay the package off 45 days prior to your arrival date.

I don't understand the purpose of pre booking for a package if your room is cancelled? Does that guarantee your room? Another thind I don't understand is if a discount comes out and you want to use it. Do you have to start over again? I amvery confused.:confused3

I book ahead because I never get a package, but do get a AAA discount. I have my room booked for April and as soon as the AAA rates are offered I will call and have this applied to my reservation. I have the room I want reserved and don't have to worry about missing out. Even if I wanted a package, i would not worry too much. I would get my deposit refunded and the new deposit charged, probably on the same statement. I come out even but again, I have the room and don't need to worry about missing out. Since we can only go when the kids are on school break, it is busy and I want to get a room at the resort I want.

I asked this same type question when I called Disney reservations. First, if you book the room only reservation, then you know for sure that you have a room at the resort of your choice. That also means that nobody else can have that room.

When I called Disney reservations back to book the package, I told them about the room only reservation. I asked the reservationist what the chances were that, in between the time that she cancelled my room only and booked a package, my room would be taken by another guest. She said the odds were definitely in my favor.

But, before she cancelled the room only reservation, she and I discussed exactly what I wanted relative to a package. I told her the resort, the number of people in my party, the number of days I wanted on my tickets and that I wanted the dining package. It made booking the package go really quickly.

If a code or special offer comes out after you have booked your reservation, you can still call Disney reservations and have them apply the code to your reservation. I have done this twice. Both times, I have saved between $300.00 to $400.00. May not seem like much but I would take any kind of savings.

Hope this helps.

It does help. I am a little leary beacuse last year I got a code and had to switch to a different Value resort. :(

Hi just wanted to let you know I booked already for April 8-17 at the French Quarter. They charge you the highest rate of 2008 and charged my card for one night.... the DM told me when the new rates come out (sometime in the fall which seems awfully late) I can either cancel my reservation or decided to keep it.

You will not lose your room only room if you rebook it as a package. They book the package before they cancel the room only. If a discount comes out they can apply it to your package and adjust the price
