Can you apply a code once ressie is booked?

Just wanted to make sure... I'm helping friends plan a trip to Disney in April. I know that they are anxious to book now, yet I keep reading about the possibility of codes in the next couple weeks. Should we just hold off, or will it be no problem to apply it after the fact, with no $ penalty?

I booked for April and was told I could add a code later if one came out.

The only way to add a code is if that type of room is avail in the inventory that has been discounted. A code is not just added to your reservation. So far, I haven't had any trouble getting a discount on the type of room I wanted or originally booked, but that is not always the norm. Alot of people will use the discount to upgrade, opening up other types of rooms. Now if you have a room only, there should be no penalty, but if it is after the 45 day mark, then there will probably be a penalty charged (don't remember the specifics).

I'm kind of in the same situation. I have a room at the Poly booked with the code for bounce back free dining (well, discounted DxDDP! ) but want to switch to a 2BR at BCV.

CRO at first had NO rooms at BCV - they couldn't even select the resort as an option. Now, 2BRs show up at CRO and online - but they say they are the rooms that aren't eligible for the code. (BTW, can you enter a code online?)

So, we're going to try to make a ressie for a 2BR at BCV with the hopes that we will either be able to transfer our current code or that a free dining code will come out for the public, they'll release more eligible rooms, and then I can apply that code.

I have the Poly club level booked for December--no discount. I was told however that "when" the code comes out I could "apply it toward my ressie".

As a pp stated, not all rooms are always available. It depends on what rooms are. Quite often people don't have issues switching. But there is always that possibilty. It depends on what the criteria is for the code also. However there are so many codes at one time, something is bound to fill the need.
Codes cannot be entered into Disney's on-line system. You just have to follow links on offers.
