Can you add on hor d'oeuvres to an Intimate?

Just wondering if Disney gives you the option of paying a bit more to have some foods at the intimate cake and champagne reception. Has anyone done this? What is the food and pricing like? I'm getting antsy about this after seeing that Food Network show last night, and my EM is out today!

I believe something like this was asked before and If I remember correctly the answer was "I'm Sure Disney will do anything if you are willing to pay them enough"...lol, It's probably true!

Oh, I wish that was the case...lol. I just heard from Maxine and they do not do hor d'oeuvres at the intimates. That stinks but I can look at the bright side and say one less thing to make decisions about!

You can get around that, but it takes a decent infusion of money... For our intimate, our EM's kept telling us, "You'll have to have a custom if you want that..." and it wasn't true at all! We were able to work around every single problem.
We wanted a private room for dinner, so we booked V&A's private room. Other options that we considered were booking the empty GF Cafe (it was closed for dinners then - not sure if it still is), the empty tea lounge (after the tea service is over, they close that down, too), or a suite like the Cape Coral at the GF. Back in 2002, when we had our wedding, the minimum for a dinner at the tea room was $600, which is really not bad, considering we spent more than twice that at V&A's. I think it was a $1200 minimum for the GF Cafe, and for the suite, it would obviously be the cost of the suite! If you booked one of those 3 options, your event would be catered by GF Private Dining. We bypassed our EM and went directly to private dining, who showed us around the GF, showed us our different options, quoted price minimums for each, and gave us copies of the menu options. The Private Dining department really is the intimate bride's best friend, if you want to do something unique.
As I said, we ended up having dinner at V&A's, and after dinner, we took our guests for an hour long fireworks cruise on the Grand One. That was the perfect way to finish the evening - the weather was beautiful, and the yacht is definitely big enough for a party of 10 or 12. We served bottled waters and chocolate covered strawberries (again, courtesy of Private Dining) while we were on the yacht.
Definitely don't let your EM discourage you into having a wedding-in-a-box. Our 3rd & final EM was Lynn McKitrick, and she was so helpful to us, with all of the extras that we added to our wedding.
Good luck, and let me know if you have any questions for me.
Cheers!

I also have Maxine for my EM and I have noticed her first response to anything out of the ordinary is no. It took me three tries to get her to ok me bringing a cd player for our dance. Don't let her discourage you from getting what you want. Try talking to someone else, I've found the more you call the more likely you are to find someone who will help you get what you want. Good luck.

LUVTGR,
I would be interested to know why Maxine said no CD player for your dance at first? I to have Maxine and at first she told me the only outdoor location that we could use a CD player was the YCG because there is electricity that flows through the Gazebo. I wanted my ceremony at SBP, but wanted the CD player as their is a special song that me and DF wanted to dance to. I asked why we couldn't have the CD players and have it run off batteries instead and her response was "o okay" ( like she'd never thought of using batteries before,(lol)... Well anyway, I was just wondering. I really hope she doesnt come back and say we can't have it.

Hi Heather

How much does the firework cruise cost from the floridian? and how many people were at your wedding?

Sam

How much would a suite cost? And furthermore, how do you get food there? What would that cost? Can you get a full meal this way?

I got costs from Maxine on private rooms for California Grill, per my future father-in-law. The smallest room holds 30 diners and the minimum (before tax and tip) after 6p is $2,000. Its not a bad deal, but with only 13 of us for my wedding, we would have to eat and drink like sailors to meet that! We're sticking with dinner in the main restaurant.

I told her I would bring my own CD player and she said there was no plug there. So I told her I would bring one that ran on batteries, then she told me the sound quality would be bad, and I told her I didn't care so she finally said yes. I really thought planning a wedding w/ 11 guests would be easier, but sometimes I feel like I'm beating my head against a brick wall.

My EM is checking the price for bride & groom strawberries for our cake cutting. Since our guests are not eating the cake until the restaurant, we thought the strawberries would go well with the bubbly :teeth:

We're some mean ones, wedding grinch.
Really, I just look at it as after I stop freaking about every little detail, I can really enjoy it.

Disneymom are you having an intimate? I was wondering if you could have your cake at the restaurant instead of at the site.

Yes, we are having the cake at the restaurant instead of the site.
They charge a fee but I didn't care. We are having an intimate ceremony at 5pm. It didn't make sense for us to eat the cake first and then eat dinner.

Lol. We're eating cake first after our 5p ceremony...then dinner at CG...then desserts again...mmmmm. :cake:
Then again, anyone have any idea what the fee is to bring it to the restaurant?

I agree to "I didn't think planning an intimate woud be this tough". I thought it was going to be easy because it's basically all done for you, but I keep thinking of ways to make it more personalized and not just another "cookie cutter" intimate, if you know what I mean. Just think ladies, all this hard work, (and sometimes agrivation) will pay off soon, and we will be so Happy!

75.00 to transport the cake-which I thought to myself that if they just took it to the restaurant in the first place, they wouldn't have to transport it. But what do I know.
