Can you add money to your resort charge account?

Trying to figure out how we're going to do the new tipping on the DDP and wondered....do most of the resorts allow you to have a cash deposit on your account that you can charge back to? We always have our credit card there for charges just in case...but if we do a rough figure on what we'll be spending, I'd rather just leave that in cash at the beginning of our stay and not deal with charging on a credit card.

So do most resorts do this?

Yes, you can put cash down on your account when you check in.

Yes you can and dont let them tell you cant. We did at the GF in July and at first we were told no but they can.

Wow! We dislike using our credit cards for anything, so we usually did not charge things to the room. Using cash to create the account changes everything! thanks!

That is not quite correct, you have a limit that you can spend, it is a different amount at the values, moderates and deluxes. The limit is very low at the values, I think its $500. When my brother and I were down in late September he had to go to the front desk to authorize them to charge his credit card so that he could continue charging back to the room. So as long as you do not exceed your limit, they will not charge your account until the end, but if you do then they will charge your credit card in mid trip.

Until you get points or miles for using cash I put EVERYTHING on the credit card.

That's how it worked for us.

We put down cash at check in then about 5 days later we went and gave CC info in case we wanted to purchase more
They put the balance on CC check out day. It worked out great!
