I posted a few weeks ago about the preferences of the Saturn Vue vs. the Toyota Highlander... did my research, decided on the Vue.

Then... today, I saw a bright red, VW Beetle Convertible with a black top and FELL IN LOVE!!!

What's wrong with me???? :drive: I really, really, really want to buy this for my 45th birthday in September...

A Vue would be more "practical" for transporting others, game equipment for my DS (6), etc... but oh my, that car just caught my heart....

What would you do? :confused3

Buy what you want - what you love. A car ios a multiple year commitment and you'll want to be comfortable with your decision. Besides, the VW beetle convertilbes rock! :thumbsup2

I totally agree with LauraJean- Buy what you want and what you love. But also keep in mind to be realistic when picking your choice! (I would pick the Convertible!) LOL

GO FOR IT!

I want a cool car....and I know it's partly because I hit the big 4-0 this year...come on...momma needs a new VW red convertible bug....

It's a little bit more than the Vue... but the coolness factor wins out big time... I'm having a friend that knows cars do a quality comparison.... :surfweb:

Oh my, I want this car!!! :car:

Oh, I love those Beetles--and it's a convertible, too!

Get the Bug!!! :hyper:

My PT Cruiser convertible is my mid-life crisis car. I had been thinking about getting one for a long time before they came out a couple years ago. I down-sized from a mini-van because I got tired of always being the one to drive when I went on trips with friends. Climbing into the back seat is awkward for most people and there is very little room for luggage.

The only time I feel bad is when my DD complains about no longer having a good "family car" (as DH has a truck without a lot of room in the back seat).

I would suggest seeing if you can fit luggage, sports gear, etc. into the VW convertible when you take it on a test drive. The trunk opening on the PT Cruiser convertible is very shallow, but the back seat is fairly roomy.

Getting groceries is a bit of a pain. I usually put them in the front passenger seat when I go by myself. Otherwise, I put the top down when putting them in and out of the back seat. Don't know if you'd have that issue with the VW, though.

Riding around with the top down sure is fun!!!

I say go for the bug! I have been longing for one too  . I also have my eye on a Ford Mustang Convertible, it will be between the two. My Freestyle lease isn't up until 2/07 though, so I have awhile to decide!

go for it-at least with a car if you decide you don't like it you can get rid of it, unlike the "midlife crisis" inspired tatoo i have on my upper arm

We got a VW bug when our oldest DD got her license. We figured she and her sister would drive it around... what better fun, but still safe, car for high schoolers?

Had to pass on the convertible since we didn't much like those insurance rates with teen drivers in the household. :sad2: But DH and I couldn't resist and got the standard transmission. Much more fun... right?
My high school car had a standard transmission, no big deal.

Turns out both my girls are wimps and they boo hoo about how difficult it is to drive, so they mostly drive my old junker, and I tool around town in the VW.
LOVE it!

I much prefer driving our VW instead of our big old van... poor DH gets stuck with it most days. :teeth:

I say if don't go for the bug you have to follow Barkley's lead and get the tattoo.
Here's one for you:

Sorry, couldn't find a red convertible... but you get the idea.

Let's see.... tatoo :confused3 .... car :confused3 .... tatoo :confused3 .... car.... :confused3

I'm a wimp, I think the car will win... I'm going for a test drive for both vehicles. The dealers are next to each other... I think that's a sign... :rotfl2:

Get the car you want! I think you made up your mind already ;)
