Can we use meal credits to feed our 2 year old?

We are going to have the DXDP this trip. Our touring plans pretty much dictate a few CS breakfasts. We'll have a LOT of snack credits, and I know we might not use them all. My DD8 is not a big eater, and could make a great breakfast off of 2 snack credits, which will save at least one meal credit.

Could we use that credit elsewhere to order off the menu for DD2? For instance, at SciFi Dine In, could we order two kids' meals and use two credits so that DD2 gets her own plate? At family style and buffets we know she'll be fine, but I cannot imagine her being ok with NOT getting her own plate at CS and TS restaurants. Using the credits this way would make a lot of sense for us if it is allowed.

Just curious...

I would say that Sci-Fi would tell you that you can only order the number of meals that are on your KTTC. I may be wrong since you are in one room, and one family, but I would bet money it would be up to the individual restuarant.

We were there last year with my dd2, almost 3. She eats like a bird! I did use some of our snack credits for her, and everywhere else, she shared with us. The kids meals are not that expensive, so at a couple of places of CS places I ordered her, her own meal and it wasn't more than 5 or 6 bucks. Maybe the girls could share a CS breakfast, just ask for an extra plate, and you can pay oop for dd2's food at sci-fi? I would still ask your server, but it would be nice to have a back up plan!

Unfortunately, Disney's official policy is clear in that you cannot do this. You can order the number of entitlements that match your card at each meal.

You will have 2 Adults, 1 Child and 1 Infant listed on your card. The Dining Plan is only available for purchase for children and adults and they prohibit sharing with those 'not on the plan'.

I know that there are exceptions, but these are cases when CM's aren't following official policy. For the sake of sanity and not feeling like you're the victim of "Bait and Switch" when you get to Disney, it's best to plan by Disney's official policy and expect that CMs will follow that policy.

We had this problem when DS was 2. There was plenty of food for him and his DS (5) to share, but he wanted his own plate. At TS restaurants, we would ask for the food to be put in front of him, and his sister got the empty plate, then we would split it in half.
Occassionally, they would split it for us in the back (usually for desserts), but not very often.

Question regarding the CS places........Let's say that you have 2 adults, 1 child and then an under 3 year old....so you are entitled to 2 adult, 1 child on the DP.

If one adult when in a line at counter service and ordered 1 adult meal and 1 childs meal on the DP, then that would be no problem, correct? Could the other adult, in a different line order 1 adult, 1 child meal too (the other child meal being for the very hungry toddler)? I mean, after all, you are just using the amount you have banked and each time not ordering over your alloted amount per meal?

The reason I ask this is because DH and I like to order three counter service meals (yes, we are awfully hungry sometimes at WDW  ) at Columbia Harbour House - fish for each of us and then we split the shrimp meal. I have no problems paying out of pocket for the extra meal if I want some shrimp too, not an issue. Though I thought that I could just order two meals in one line and DH could order one meal in another line. We are planning on doing the DxDP and I know that one or two breakfasts we will probably be skipping due to sleeping in, so I will have a couple of extra meal credits, and thought this might be a way to "use it up".

Also, if you only can use the exact amount on your card per meal (which I can totally understand if it is the rule) what if you order counter service for a late breakfast....then an hour later order an early lunch, is it the time between meals or just the fact they are ordered at different CS restaurants?

Any ideas?

You can't (or aren't supposed to be able to) order more than the number on your card in one transaction. No one will stop you from both standing in line or going back for an extra meal if you are still hungry.

That's what I thought too....probably not the most "frugal" way of using the DxDP, but hey, when the mood strikes for shrimp at CHH .
