We own 2 strollers:

Tour Sport Reclining Umbrella Stroller:

and one of the Chicco Cortina travel system strollers:

We are flying to WDW, not renting a car - only using Disney transportation (buses, staying at POP), staying on property 7 days, not planning on renting a Disney stroller and we will have a 21 month old. So DS will be in the stroller 90% of the time.

We're thinking of taking the smaller stroller - the Tour Sport Umbrella Stroller. Has anyone taken this stroller to Disney - and was it comfortable to use for multiple days? Tips, suggestions welcomed. Thank you!

My DD was 8 mo when we went the first time and 25 mo when we go this month. I have a Mountain Buggy Urban Single and bought the Cortina specifically for Disney. I figured she is spending a week in that stroller so she better be comfy. I doubt she will be in it much this trip but still. I vote for the Cortina. Bulkier but still comfortable.

The big question is how comfortable will you be pushing the umbrellas stroller around for a long period of time to you feel like you hunch over when pushing it. the one you have is the same one disney sells. I would bring the chicco but if you don't feel like lugging your stroller there consider renting from www.orlandostrollerrentals.com you can rent the baby jogger city mini from them. the single rents for 70 dollars plus tax for 4-7 nights.

Ok, I own the Cortina, NO WAY would I take it Disney. I know it is super-light but way too big and bulky to carry onto buses. I have taken Chicco umbrella strollers since my DS 8 was about 2. They are kind of flimsy and fall apart. I thought DS8 and DD9 were my last so I didn't want to invest a lot in an umbrella stroller. I tossed those in the trash about 2 years ago as they were falling apart after 5 trips to Disney. Why am I telling you all of that? If your DS 21 mo is your last child, then take your umbrella stroller with you. The bag on the back will be sufficient along with whatever diaper bag/backpack you bring. You don't need all of the storage in the underneath basket...you can send your purchases to your hotel. If you think you may have other kiddos, or plan to travel a lot, I say invest in a MacLaren Triumph. I have probably had 12 or so strollers over the years and finally gave in and bought one about 3 months ago to try out before Disney and to bring with us. I truly wish I had bought one a long time ago. It is so much nicer than the cheaper umbrella strollers we have owned. HTH, sorry to throw so much at you!

I could personally not push an umbrella stroller like the first one around for a week. We actually bought a Chicco Capri umbrella stroller when ds was little, and ended up barely using it because neither dh or I could stand pushing it for very long. I am 5'6", and dh is 6'2" and we both kicked the wheels when pushing it. That gets really old, really fast, at WDW!

Really, I would take the stroller that you are most comfortable pushing all day, and the one that your child will be most comfortable in. At that age, my ds still napped in the stroller (the big comfy one that reclined and had a huge canopy). since you're not renting a car, from the sounds of it, you don't have to worry about the stroller taking up too much space in the trunk with the luggage... If one of you is strong enough to carry it on and off the buses, then you only have to do that a few times a day. We've taken a big single jogger more than once, and hauled it on and off the buses. I've even taken ds and the stroller by myself. My stroller weighs about 25lbs. While hauling a little umbrella on and off the bus would have definitely been logistically easier, I didn't find it to be that big of a deal really. A minor inconvenience in the grander scheme of things. I thoroughly enjoy having an easy to push stroller that my ds is also comfy in, especially when I'm using the stroller so extensively while at WDW. JMHO.

The 1st stroller you posted looks very like the one they sell in the stores at WDW so there are hundreds of them parked everywhere. You would have to mark it very well to make sure it was yours.

As for the age of your little one I don't think they would be very comfy in it all day for a week. I bought it one year in wdw for my 4 yr old and it was fine but my youngest wouldn't have slept in it.

Go for the comfiest one as it will make everyones life easier if baby can have a nice sleep and plenty of shade.

Such a hard decision! Along with everyone else I say consider your comfort as well. I'm tall so pushing around a standard umbrella stroller doesn't work. However, they are super convenient on the buses which do get crowded. If your larger stroller is easy to lift onto the buses and doesn't take up a lot of room I'd take that one. More storage room for the diaper bag, more room for your child and easier to push around for a week. Best of luck and have a fantastic trip!:thumbsup2

I wouldn't take the cheap umbrella stroller- can't imagine pushing that for hours on end, they don't push that easily. However, I agree that the Cortina would not be as easy to get on and off the buses.

I agree with PP that it would probably be worth it to invest in a Maclaren. You can get good deals on older models on ebay and babye-store.com. Volo is great but no recline, I would try a Triumph for your needs.

.....and we went in a stroller swap to have a stroller for both our DD2 and DD7, who I knew would get tired walking in the parks.

The stroller we used was an instep safari jogger, it was big, and perhaps bulky on the bus, but boy was I and DH thankful for it in the parks. It was super comfy for both our girls and we were very comfortable pushing it for a week. The bigger wheels made it easy to go up hills and we had some storage.

And really the bus never proved to be a problem for the stroller. Mostly my DH took to on, but I did a couple of times myself with the girls.

Good luck with your decision, Have a great trip!!

Last year when we took DS, who was 20 months at the time, we took our larger travel system stroller. This was my biggest dilemma while getting ready for our trip. I'm so glad I went with the bigger stroller. DS not only was very comfy all week but we had plenty of room to stash all the stuff you need to bring with you for the little ones!
It did prove to be a pain at times but having cupholders and a big basket and a snack tray for DS was way better!

Based on our experience, I'd go with the bigger one. Baby spends alot of time in the stroller and you need them comfy. It also has a great basket for your gear and cup holders are great too. I say go bigger.

I would take the Chicco. We took it on our last trip and it was great. We had no problem getting on and off the bus with it and DS was able to sleep totally reclined. DH would take the stroller and diaper bag and I would take DS and our backpack. I think for 7 days the umbrella stroller would get uncomfortable for you to push and for your DS to sit/sleep in.

DH would lug around our backpack before we had kids, but now it's nice to have a place to put it. The basket is huge, so we were able to put our backpack and a Baggallini as our diaper bag with room to spare. Plus the Chicco has a bigger sunshade which will be perfect if your DS is sleeping or awake.

The umbrella stroller really would not provide enough sunshade. I'd bring the bigger stroller and just plan for one of you to stand with it on the bus. It's really not too bad to bring a bigger stroller on the buses-- most have wide openings and aisles, plus only one step to get on the bus.

We've brought full sized graco strollers and others bring jogging strollers and have no problem.

Anyone have any good reccomendations for a light weight stroller for a 4 year old??? We like renting the stollers but after spending all day at the park, she gets tired and then wants us to carry her to the bus, around the resort........ I just bought a Maclaren Volo for my DD5 for the next trip. I got it on "that auction site" for $75. It doesn't recline but we don't need that. If you do the triumph is setp up form the volo and does recline. The volo has a small basket underneath for storge and we ordered the organizer that hangs on the back from Target. We had an evenflo xsport last trip and I was ok pushing it, but my DH who it 5'7" said that he had to hunch to push it. This one is much easier to push and the will hold up to 55 lbs.

ALthough we don't have those two strollers, we do have two similar. We ended up taking our bigger bulkier stroller with us. It was a bit of a pain on the busses but otherwise great. We typically carry so much stuff - diaper bag and all that related stuff - which fit much better in the bottom of the bigger stroller. It was nice that we could just leave that stuff on our stroller and not be carrying it around all day. Have fun.
