Can we talk princess dresses?

Aside from the ones in the Disney stores and parks, do you have a preference? I've bought couple from Walmart that fell apart within weeks. And one from Halloween express which I expected to disintegrate but it honestly held up longer than I expected.

Right now I'm looking at some from Target, and the Little Adventures brand?
Specifically this dress on Amazon.

I know it doesn't need to be top quality, but I want something that's at least comfortable and won't fall apart after a day or so of wear.

I have bought what seems like a thousand dresses and my favorite are still from the Disney store. I have never ordered from the company you showed from amazon, but the dress was really pretty. I just like all the glitter on the Disney dresses. I'm sure your princess will love which ever you pick.

I agree, Disney Store dresses are great quality. I just bought DD a Sophia dress there a few weeks ago when they were 40% off, making it $26. A great deal! If you have any Disney Store outlets near you, you can sometimes get great deals there.

I really like our Disney inspired princess dresses from Little Dress Up Shop. They've held up well to daily dress up, no scratchy fabrics, and they're machine washable.

I too got the Little Dress Up Shop dresses for my girls and they held up excellent, in fact they are over a year old and still look the same as they did when we got them, even through washing. Now, my girls are older so they don't wear them daily or anything but they still use them for dress up sometimes

and honestly, the next time I go I'm just going to sew them 'themed' dresses (dresses sewn with the colors of their favorite princess dresses), even the most comfortable dress up dresses just aren't very comfortable.
You can find some on etsy I'm sure, comfy cotton peasant dresses.

My older daughter is sensitive to "itchy" dresses. We bought a Disney Store dress for our trip when she was 2.5 years old and we had to return it. The Little Adventures dresses are amazing. Not itchy at all and machine washable. We've bought ours from the Little Dress Up Shop mentioned above, but they can be found elsewhere (Amazon, etc.).

Yes! We bought DD a Minnie Mouse dress there and she's played in it multiple times and it looks like when we bought it. It is worth the $ IMO.

The Disney store ones are so worth the money (and are usually on sale) we also like the "inspired" custom made dresses, they are unique!

I would buy from Disney Store. When DD was 4, we bought Cinderella dress from DS ~$60. She wore it EVERY DAY for close to two years. Literally it was ankle length & she still wore it at knee length. It held up very well. She had others to made by Gma that lasted but none of the cheapos from walmart etc held together nearly as well.

DD hasn't changed a bit. Gma had to make her an Elsa dress this year. She's 18 & irritated that she can't dress in costume at wdw any more. She's got some disneybounding plans tho. Bought some Peter Pan green nail polish yesterday.

I bought some Elsa and Anna dresses from an online Halloween store that have held up well and are comfortable. I have made the other princess dresses DVD has, except for rapunzel. I bought a Disney store rapunzel dress when they were like $27 because i would spend that much on material and thread, and it is beautiful.

I am looking at pics of the costume type dresses and they all look like it would be difficult for her to walk in them. Does anyone have any suggestions for one that would be comfortable for her to wear all day? Also, its august, so not too heavy/hot.

Is she set on having the tail? There are some cute outfits on etsy that have a tutu instead of the tail. I think I've also seen replicas of the pink dress she wears in human form.

The Disney Stores within JC Penney sell dresses of similar quality to the "real" Disney Stores for quite a bit cheaper. They seems to be perpetually on sale for $28.00. They tend to not be as itchy, plastic looking, or poorly constructed as the Halloween store type costumes and no velcro closures.

Because of this thread I bought two Frozen dresses from Little Dress Up. I bought an Elsa and and an Ana dress for $16.00 each (it was a special). I got them promptly in the mail today and they look great! I never would have been able to sew them for that price. They are for my daughters' Easter basket, so I cannot say if they run true to size. Thanks for the tip!

My DD wanted to wear a princess dress during our August trip in 2012. So we let her wear her Rapunzel one that we bought from the Disney store and she was so hot and itchy that I was glad she had on a tank top and shorts underneath so that she could take it off.

The Disney store also has some really cute princess nightgowns that are lightweight and very comfortable to wear. My daughter has a few of them and they are very cute, not itchy and could be a possible princess dress alternative. The Cinderella and Elsa ones look really nice and are cheaper than getting the traditional dress.
