Can we talk dessert party?

We did the pre party this past Tuesday 4/25. I hate to say this, but it was unfortunately the lowlight of our entire trip. For some reason, not sure if they overbooked, the seating ended up being full for the pre party area, so everyone still in line to check in had to just basically stand there and wait until people got up. We didn’t get seated until 8:00-8:15 and had to quickly eat so we could get to the Garden. I literally never complain, but I’m considering calling now that I’m home, as it is too expensive to not get the time that you paid for. Once we got in, we did enjoy the selections and our spot in the garden ended up to be pretty good, although of course would have been better if we had gotten there earlier

No I mean that dessert parties were treated differently and did not release in any pattern like ADR's do. And yes, once released that's all that was ever available. Since they weren't refundable, you didn't even see cancellations.

The last 2 times I booked the parties were released on the 60+10 day but at varying times. For 3/31, the after party was released at 5:30 am and the pre party was at 6:00 am. I didn’t look at Treats & Seats but someone said those were released at midnight.

Are you saying you didn’t get seated at a table to get desserts before the party because there weren’t enough tables?

There were a bunch of groups that had to just stand in the Check-in line for 30/40 minutes because they didn’t have tables to seat pre party guests. It was beyond frustrating

Honestly I plan to address it this week, I’m just trying to figure out the best department to contact, so if anyone has a suggestion as to who I should call/email I would appreciate it! I have never filed a complaint before, but I really do think this warrants some kind of compensation considering how expensive the tickets are

I agree, that is absurd and unacceptable, I cannot believe there is any way that could happen! What did they do, accidentally overbook for a night?? It probably would have been best to have gone to guest services that night in your way out, but I can certainly understand why you didn’t want to during the late night chaos when you’re all tired and in addition irritated about that! I would definitely call and escalate it politely when/if the initial CM doesn’t offer a refund. You probably need guest services, not just the regular line. The number I have in my phone for GS is 407-939-7866, but I am not positive that’s the best number or every accurate anymore, I don’t remember where I got it lol.

This happened on Sunday 4/23 as well, it didn't happen to us but to a couple of groups who sat next me during the fireworks. At a CM's suggestion one group went over to Casey's and got a couple of to-go boxes and they boxed up some treats and finished up on the grass.

How crowded was the viewing area on those days? Any pictures would help.

No pictures, the area was full but I wouldn't call it crowded. We all had plenty of room to sit before the show started, about 10-15 minutes before they had the people towards the front stand and fill in that area, I was right against the front rail and wasn't looking back. After the fireworks ended the grass area dispersed quickly, but we sat down for about 5 minutes and then headed over to SDMT.

Looks like its doing something similar now. The last day visible is Nov 5, nothing after that is even clickable, but it should be clickable through Nov 7 now.

We attended the pre party and the Treats and Seats earlier this month on different days. They were released on day 51.

Also, to clarify what another poster said, there is a 5 day cancellation policy, so it is possible for openings to appear. Especially right around 5-7 days out.

I’m staying on-site and my 60 day window plus 7 opens on 2nd October I think. So will be the booking window be open for the dessert party then or on 4th October since that’s 60 days before 12/3.

And then there’s the timing so is it 6am like ADRs or midnight? I only have one day the party will work with our plans so I don’t want to mess it up.

I don't think anyone can definitively answer this for you. It seems they are sometimes released at 60+, sometimes not until well within 60 days. In our case it was a matter of checking a couple of times daily until they showed at day 51.

Thank you. This is helpful as I know what you mean.. it seems so sporadic. I guess the best bet is to just keep checking once 60 days approach and not get discouraged if it doesn’t show at first.

Treats and Seats is the hardest one to book. Be sure to checkout some videos as the view is not optimal. You need to check in early for T&S to get a better view. If mobility is not an issue I would recommend the after party.

Super helpful! Thank you. I was hoping for treats and seats for the seat aspect - not so much for mobility issues but fatigue… but if I can’t get it then the after party would be okay - I guess I can sit on the grass?
