Can we talk coffee?

Were you trying to get coffee at the actual Kona Cafe or the coffee bar? The coffee bar is like an express line for those of us who need coffee NOW or we'll hurt somebody. :lmao:

We're driving down....God help us....and I'll take my coffee maker and probably the industrial size bag of DD's coffee, you the one you can get at BJ's that's the size of a suitcase.

The coffee bar. It was by the doors that lead to the monorail. This was Dec 2006 -- I hope things have changed.

Kona Island Coffee Bar is open from 6:30am until 8pm...which goes along with what I remember from our first time staying at the Poly in spring of 2005. We saw folks grabbing coffee all day, but I am strictly an early morning coffee drinker and there wasn't much of a line around 6:30ish. :)

make them understand that a bad cup of coffee at Disney World tastes better than a good cup of coffee at work. :)

:worship: I love it!!! Thanks for all the tips, we will be hitting the grocery store before checking in and I will add cofee, filters and my favorite fru-fru creamer on the list.

Perhaps you serious coffee drinkers will understand how much we Brits need our tea!
The coffee makers don't heat the water up nearly enough - it has to be actually boiling to make decent tea, then the teabags: gross is the only way to describe them in all the hotels.
If we want decent tea, we have to bring teabags from England (either PG, Yorkshire or Tetley).
I've got some quite good Mexican coffee from our trip last year to Playa del carmen, four sachets I think - I'll probably bring them to wdw.

Coffee drinker in the morning, tea in the afternoon. I agree with you on the tea situation as well - I can get Tetley here in Chicago. If you run out, try the Publix in Kissimmee, they carry a number of British imports.

Sorry, double post. I alway wondered how people did that, now I know! Guess I need some more:surfweb:

I have to say that I am a complete coffee junkie. I need it so bad that I will even tolerate crappy coffee when needed BUT I cannot handle the NesCRAPe at WDW at all. My mom said it took 2 cups to get numb to the taste. lol

It actually affected my last trip..not a lot..I had a great time but there was this constant sense of unease about me all week that I KNEW had to do with my lack of coffee. It is not just the caffiene that I need, it is the tase, it soothes and calms me. I guess it is like a smoker and cigarettes. I just NEED coffee.

I think even some brands of instant would be better than the Nescrape at WDW so I think I will bring my own instant coffee packets. Does POR have pots in the room? If so I will bring my own coffee I guess but it seems like so much work.

So yeah, WARN your dh and MIL because for true coffee junkies..the lack of decent coffee can hurt.

Second, make them understand that a bad cup of coffee at Disney World tastes better than a good cup of coffee at work. :)

I agree. I do hate the fact that there is no good coffee, however I will be able suffer through at DW.

I agree that coffee is my only huge constant complaint about WDW. I wish they would ditch Nescafe.:scared:

An open letter to Bob Iger:

Please, for the love of all that is good in this world, let Nestle provide your hot cocoa and crunch bars if you want, but GET SOME DECENT COFFEE IN WDW!!!
I would gladly pay $5 for a Grande cup of real starbucks coffee.

Or just do it yourselves. All you need to do is have a couple of coffee stands in each park with real espresso machines and someone who knows how to use them. There's a huge profit margin in good espresso drinks and you'd be satisfying millions of us coffee addicts. Just think how much more money you could make if us coffee drinkers could get a fix in the afternoon and stay in the parks doing more shopping and riding, instead of having to go back to the hotel to crash and burn from lack of caffeine.

If you have a car, the coffee at the Hess Express (2 of them) on Disney Property is decent coffee. We stopped there a couple of times for a real cup of coffee fix.

If I wasn't in the mood to stop there, I started off my day with a diet coke. :rotfl:

We are driving next year and I am bringing my own. I use a Flavia machine, which makes coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and indulgent drinks.

It is sure to please everyone in the group.
You can check it out at MyFlavia.com

The "coffee" at the ASMov food court is the absolute worst coffee that I have ever had, but it was coffeelike and I drank it.

I'm not even a coffee snob, I drink the local coffee here (Community Dark Roast), I've had Starbucks Coffee exactly 3 times in my life, and I thought the coffee at Disney was disgusting. So for someone who is not overly knowledgable about coffee to say it is gross, is a good indication of how disgusting it actually is.

Just thinking about drinking it again churns my stomach, so I will bring coffee from home for my upcoming trips.

For those of you who hate Nescafe, but aren't quite a coffee snob...

We get the Folgers filter packs and bring them with us every year. They work pretty well in a hotel sized coffee machine. Plus, you don't have to measure out the coffee. The package they come in fits nicely in our suitcase too.

I agree, I'd love a Starbucks at the resorts. But at the parks? I don't know. How in the world do you enjoy a good cup of Joe, while running from ride to ride? I always wondered how people really enjoy that. I only like my coffee if I'm sitting and relaxing. In all seriousness, how do you like doing coffee at the parks? Oh I remember why I didn't like the idea:) , coffee is first thing in the morning and when you hit the parks, you've got to get to all the big stuff first, sooooo, do you really take that precious time and stop and order coffee and then sit and sip?

That first cup of coffee first thing in the morning is like a junkie getting a fix (I watch Intervention on A&E). It feels sooooo good! That first sip is like ahhhhhhh!

I don't drink coffee while in the parks, except maybe a cafe latte or an esspresso after a meal, where available.

we now can get PG Tips at Shoprite in NJ! yeah.

Good coffee is one of the reasons I like to stay at the Poly...is that wrong? Nothinkg like grabbing a big cup of Kona coffee before hitting the monorial! :worship:

This tip won't really help with your need for a morning fix, but the french bakery in Epcot has a GREAT strong espresso. Unfortunately, World Showcase doesn't open til 11 a.m. They have a good baileys coffee in Norway!:lovestruc

If by chance I forget to pack a few packets of the Folger's single use filters for the coffee machine I will pick up a can of the Disney Blend coffee at the gift shop and go from there. Even if I have to rip into the filter they provide lol! I've always thought that coffee isn't too bad, but I'm not hardcore on my coffee.

Now cocoa... that's an entire other story! SO MUCH love for the Chocolate Chocolate Disney Cocoa!

The parks aren't for morning coffee..by then it's waaaay too late for me. Parks are for afternoon coffee breaks. :rotfl: (and then there's the after dinner coffee.....)
