We’ve never done Christmas time at DL. We want to go the first weekend and are wondering if 2 nights is enough, or would 3 be better realizing Veteran’s Day should be busy? What are the must sees?
Going in November. We have never been either so I am excited. We did catch the awesome exterior decorations on Small World when we went one January. We want to try a lot of the holiday snacks like the Yule Logs and the booths at DCA. I hope the tree and gingerbread house are up at DCA by 11/19.
I have two Christmas trips under my belt. One during Christmas break with crazy crowds and the other during thanksgiving weekend.
The more days the Better is my motto! There is so much to see during Christmas! Cars land, festival of the holidays, Christmas fireworks, Christmas parade, small workd overlay, small world decorations and light show, haunted mansion biaghtmare before Christmas overlay, tree lighting ceremonies, the felize navida parade in DCA... plus all the regular Disneyland stuff!
I believe it's normally Veterans day weekend. So you should be safe around there, granted they could change things. You start seeing some Christmas decor on Halloween. Snow is sometimes on the castle by then.
Visiting at Christmastime is so magical! The crowds tend to be lower earlier in the Christmas season and the weather is great. I personally would opt to do three days instead of two. We love the trying all the food and watching the performances at Festival of Holidays in DCA and the Christmas WOC is probably my favorite version. Then over at Disneyland you have the Christmas parade and fireworks, plus all the seasonal decor. I think you’d be glad you had three days to soak in all the atmosphere.

Our family is going the 2nd week of Dec on a contest win ! We've gone the first weekend in Dec before during Candlelight Processional, busy but totally doable. We haven't gone in Nov yet but it sounds like fun, and with it being decorated for Christmas its so magical. We love the cooler weather for that time of year and we still manage to use the pool. Atleast 3 nights - 4 days for us is doable, 2 nights for us is too rushed.......of course anytime we can add more nights / days to a trip the better.
Disneyland Daily has great tips / advice for Disneyland during the Holidays. And as Christmas Season gets closer she'll be updating information as things to do and see.
Going to the Disneyland Resort Hotel lobby's is fun as they'll have great displays !
Last year "Christmas" season was from November 9, 2018 until January 6, 2019
We love the Christmas season at DLR! We were there last Veteran's Day weekend. The only thing that wasn't up, was the tree at the Grand Californian, ( It went up the day we checked out) but all the other holiday offerings were up and running.

3 is better if you want to try a lot of the holiday food/treats. I've never been able to try everything that I wanted because there's only so much a person can eat in a day or two.
There will be a special World of Color and Afternoon Tea at the Disneyland Hotel. It's a small world is the best for Holiday time and they will have fast passes for that. The parade is good. There will be a big yummy smelling gingerbread house in the Grand Californian lobby. They will be selling special treats next to it.
Characters like the fab 5 are dressed in holiday attire so, make sure to take pictures with them. They also have the hand made candy canes if your interested in that sort of thing. They are huge! But there is a mad rush to get them as they only make so many per day. I love it's a small world and the holiday parade are a must see. Also taking pictures in front of the huge tree when you walk inside of DL is also a must.
I’m not sure if this was an aberration this last year but they didn’t have the garland going across Main Street up right away. It took them two weeks or so after it started until it was up.
Christmastime at DLR is my fave. We went this past Thanksgiving and it was the family Christmas gift, so it was perfect. And now, prepare to be inundated with photos ;-)
Look how gorgeous the castle is!!
Even more gorgeouser at night (and why is it sideways?!)
Seasonal treats. This was at DCA and SO GOOD. Also, reasonably priced. I think it was only like $5 or $6 and we shared it and it was totally satisfying for a sweet treat mid-day.
We did Minnie and Friends breakfast, and this is Minnie's freaking adorable Christmas outfit!
A decked out Carsland entrance! I LOVED the theming through all of Carsland
