Have early morning excursions planned while in the ports in Alaska. Wondering if we can bring food off the ship with us for breakfast and snacks during the day.

We often take packages of PB and crackers and candy bars ashore to keep the hungries at bay. Just as DF says, no fruits etc.

Not to seem ignorant, but based on the Navigator pic above, can we bring sandwiches (I'm guessing "no" because of the "meats" and "animal products") or baked goods (muffins, danishes, etc.)?

I personally say no, it's clear no processed foods so cheese and ham in sandwiches is that. No vegetables it says there.

It says canned foods ok, so to me that's quite an indication of the level they consider, if it's not in a tin, it's not OK. I think Bags of candy maybe the sealed cereal without milk is ok, bottled water is OK.

Two weeks ago I was doing an Alaskan Running Cruise on RCCL, but the ports were pretty much the same. They were very clear with us that prepackaged things such as Clif/Luna bars and energy gels were ok, but definitel NO fruit, NO self-made peanut butter and bagels, etc. ONLY prepackaged, sealed stuff. And they made it clear that it was NOT a cruise line based thing but restrictions by the port authority in Alaska.

So if you're talking prepackaged, pre-sealed things you bought at a store before getting on the ship (not a bakery, but the things you'd buy at a grocery store or the like that are factory sealed) you're probably ok. If you were wanting to make sandwiches, wrap up cookies or muffins, etc. then that's a big no and can incur steep fines if/when caught.

Just to clarify, it was a SHIP OFFICIAL who said that the pre-packaged things such as bars are ok.

Google "Processed food", it looks like it would also included the bags of chips and boxes of breakfast cereal.
