Airmiles Armchair Chatter

So after a very hectic 4-5 days of organizing and just getting things done, we have arrived at travel day. I'm sitting sipping my tea at the moment with my self tanner drying. Still need to go over to work to drop some things off and we are not finished packing. WHY is packing such an ordeal? I assigned DD to do it yet it's taken far too much time. Part of the problem being that I cheap'd out and bought the airfare that does not include carry on bags. Huge mistake that I will never do again. When I did check in last night I upgraded seats to extended comfort, to the tune of $148, just to get the carry on bag. However, we are only bringing one because I only get 2 free checked bags coming home. So checking one going south and will have to check the carry on as a second coming home. Rethinking it all now, I should have just paid for a second checked bag :sad2: Anyhow...live and learn.

I realized that I never came back to update the AM booking saga. Were we last left off I had received a message saying to copy down the reservation number and I would get me info within 24hrs. I checked my mail probably every 15 minutes all day long and never got anything. So after work I called and sat on hold for 70 minutes. Got a fantastic person who goes though things and says there is no booking. It didn't go through. Yikes! So I then ask about canceling the WJ booking, I'm still within the 24hrs, so that I can rebook as a round trip which would now be the better option miles wise. The AC flight that I wanted had gone up 1400 miles. She checks and says yes but then offers to wait on the line while I look at what I want to book...so that I don't have to call back and be on hold again. I would have loved that but I was driving on the highway at that time. So I hang up and the second I get to my destination I try booking AC again and this time it goes through, no problem and I got all the documents in my email within a minute or two. I think the grand total on miles for both legs of the trip was close to 10K.

The redeem event is limited in the amount of miles you can collect 114AM for a cash redemption. Keep that in mind when deciding of this a great offer to take advantage of. Sorry I didn't make not of the Dream miles max.

I will likely redeem for a $50 Disney GC and $30GC for some fast food place we frequent to max out the offer.

Too bad the redemption event isn't on right now as I need to buy a new Kobo ereader and I am getting it from Best Buy and I could have cashed in some miles for evouchers. And no I can't wait for September 4th to buy it. Mine has died - it has been installing an update for 24hours now so I am buying a new one for the weekend for the cottage. It has served me well as I think I have had it for over 10 years.

I stopped at Shell and the in store AM all posted but not the gas yet, hopefully it won't take too much longer. Should get 40 for the gas (38 liters plus 2 for getting the gas). In store some things stacked so it was 49 AM for that. Hopefully the gas miles post sooner or later, I know the card worked as it asked if I wanted to redeem.

for the redemption, I'll max out on the cash miles for sure. I know I'll redeem for Disney GC, $80 of them, even only getting back 114 AM for that is still better than nothing.
