Can we split a TS meal?

Some of our ADR's are pretty close together due to other times not being available. If we are not very hungry can we split our meal and only use of TS instead of 2 allowing us to do the same another day?

Or will they still take off 2 TS since there will be two of us eating?

Thanks!

Depends on the restaurant, and maybe on the server you happen to get. Most restaurants (with the exception of buffets or all you can eat fixed menu restaurants, at which sharing one meal between two or more people is never permitted - everyone will be charged at a restaurant of this type) will allow it. We have reports that Tutto Italia and Beaches and Cream are not permitting dining plan users to share entrees.

We ate at Tutto Italia and I was allowed to share with my SIL who was not on the dining plan. We also did the same at Teppan Edo. GL! :thumbsup2

DD14 and I were allowed to split at both Mama Melrose and Turf Club but not at Tony's. I always asked first so I knew how I wanted to order.

We split dinners at Tony's last August. I think sometimes CMs make up their own policies on the spot to maximize their tips.

What about if you are paying OOP and not on the dining plan? We are going to Tony's and I was planning on splitting a meal with my youngest DS, but we'd both get our own salads. Plus, there's DH and older DS....we'll have a decent sized bill I'm sure. Will they really not let us split in order to maximize their tips???:confused3

I've never heard of it having anything to do with tips. I've always heard that if you're paying OOP it's fine, but if you're on the DDP they don't allow it. I would check with the restaurant when you get there. I know when eating out in the real world, many restaurants charge a plate fee when sharing a plate.

Yes, you should be able to do that, especially since you're not on the DDP.

It's against the rules of the dining plan to share meals with someone who isn't on the dining plan. Please don't count on being able to do this.

I always read that rule as meaning you couldn't use a credit for someone else who is not on the DDP. If it's not a buffet, I'm not sure why it would matter if you are sharing your entree with someone else. It's not like they will take back whatever you didn't eat and serve it to someone else.

Your dining credits and your meals are not transferable to others. This could be interpreted to mean you cannot share your meals with anyone not on the plan. It does not make sense that Disney would allow such sharing. The DIS does not permit discussion of going outside the rules of the plan. Any such discussion will be deleted.
