Can we? Should we? A Spring 2009 PTR - New 5/6 - The TR has begun!

Hi Amy! Only 1 more day until your spaceship countdown! 10, 9, etc. I'm so jealous. Your sons are lucky little boys to have a mom working so hard to plan a fantastic trip for them.:goodvibes

"Spaceship Countdown" -- love that phrase -- I am so stealing it!!! Wish it were time for my spaceship countdown!

Wow, Amy those cards are great! I bet they'll be very helpful with the boys!:thumbsup2

Thanks!! :thumbsup2 I think they'll really help Zach.

Park Hours have been extended for several of our days. AK on Monday (was 9-6, now 9-7), MK on Wednesday (was 9-9, now 9-10), DHS on Thursday(was 9-8:30, now 9-10). Thanks for the heads-up...I'm glad I checked!!

Very nice cards Amy. I'm sure they are a lifesaver! :thumbsup2

Yay for extended park hours! :cool1: I'm optimistic that the cards will work out well.

Amy, those are fantastic. That is such a great idea.

Thanks! And I saw that you popped in over on the disABILITIES thread and said Hi! :goodvibes

Wow! What great cards! Connor had apraxia when he was younger and had difficulty communicating because of speech problems -- those would have been invaluable!

My next door neighbor's daughter has pretty severe apraxia. She's in 1st grade now and still difficult to understand sometimes.

We've found that even with good verbal skills, visuals help Alex a lot - hopefully the same will be true for Zach. He seems to really like the cards.

Your cards are awesome! Billy's teachers helped me to make similar cards for him when he was little... they weren't as nice as yours, though!

Thankfully, he does not seem to need them as much now that he is older (eleven.) I'm sure that will be the same with Alex & Zachary.

One thing he does struggle with is the WH~ questions... Who, What, Where, etc. So we still use these prompts to help him verbalize his answers...

Its amazing how such a simple little thing can be such a big help!! I think I will borrow ideas from you and Julie, laminate these, and put them on a ring to take with us... thanks, and again, great job!!

Kathy

I like your "W" cards! I might steal that idea sometime.

Any little thing that might help is worth doing if it will make the trip nicer for everyone. Alex has outgrown a lot of the visuals we used to use with him. They both have great speech as far as articulation goes, but the ability to communicate needs isn't always perfect, especially in stressful situations. We're finding that Zachary tends to hold things in too much so I'm hoping the cards will help remind him to tell us when something's wrong.

Yahoo!! I get to try online check-in tomorrow!!

"Spaceship Countdown" -- love that phrase -- I am so stealing it!!! Wish it were time for my spaceship countdown!

I was a little confused about the phrase for a second... then I read the 10, 9, etc. part and it totally made sense!

I can't believe it's so close!! :woohoo:

Today we start out Spaceship Countdown (thanks cjackearl!)

10 DAYS!!!

:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

Busy day today - I have to go work for about an hour this morning before I am volunteering in Zachary's class at 10:00. Then Alex has an early release for teacher conferences today. Luckily I don't have a conference since we had an IEP meeting yesterday. (Uneventful - he is starting his 3 year re-evaluation so we had to go discuss which tests they want to do and I had to sign some papers...)

DMIL came home from her 3 weeks in Florida yesterday!! :worship: She'll be coming over to visit this afternoon. :thumbsup2

I'm trying to come up with something fun to do for the last 10 days of this PTR. I can't commit to 10 days of family Disney fun so I'll see what I can come up with. :goodvibes Plus I'll let you know how I make out with online check-in later today!

How unbelievably exciting! Your DMIL was in Florida for 3 weeks? Wow!
Next weekend, M'am!:dance3:

10 days! YAY! :woohoo: I'm looking forward to hearing how online check-in goes since I'm planning to try that for our trip in 3 WEEKS!

Thanks for all the dancing... but I can't do online check in today because it's actually 12 days until Disney. :sad2: We leave in 10 days, but we're spending the first 2 visiting DBIL & family. :thumbsup2 So I'll let you know how it goes in 2 more days. :cheer2:

Happy 10 days!

I'm hoping to have the baby before you leave.......

Looking forward to hearing about your experience with online check-in!

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Because otherwise you have to wait until I come back. ;)

MIL spent 1/2 of the time on the west coast visiting her mother and her brother/sister-in-law. She spent the other 1/2 visiting DH's brother & family (the same family members we are visiting). No Disney for her this time. :sad2:

Was that Monday, March 30th? Were you at the 8 or 10? We saw the 8, then Wishes, and then left. I know - I can wait until your TR for details, but hey - patience isn't a strong suit of mine. :rolleyes1

we did the 8 pm one too, and sorta watched wished from over in adventureland. where do you view the parade? we sat in front of DHS in frontierland.

Here's what I have been working on today...

Amy these are great, can I post a link (make one) for these to add in my special guidebook thread? I need to update there still and these are wonderful. Michael is fine w/ all words, but I know many a family who would benefit from an idea like this! GREAT JOB!!!!!

We watched the MNSSHP parade from Frontierland. Haven't decided where we'll watch Spectro from this year - probably the same area.

Thanks! I started a thread over on the disABILITIES board - feel free to post a link to either... I finished Alex's yesterday and need to post pics. Hopefully tomorrow.

Darn it -- I was hoping the boys were going to score some early Disney souvenirs!

OK you gave away Day 10 of my not so exciting 10 days of Disney... Gramma bought the boys Mickey Mouse towels!! But I think she bought them at Walmart here in NH! :lmao:

Thanks! Do I spy a new ticker? :cool1:

Yep, you sure do! :goodvibes It's just generic/tentative though. Nothing is set in stone yet, still can't decide where to stay! :upsidedow But I just had to have a ticker! :rotfl:

I can't believe you are going to CBR and WDW in just 10 days!! :cool1:
