Can we? Should we? A Spring 2009 PTR - New 5/6 - The TR has begun!

someday WE need to have a girls DISMEET Weekend away!!!!!!!!!!!!!:yay:

Count me in, girls!! :cloud9: (Welcome back, Scrappie!!)

We used the Hidden Mickeys book, but really didn't bring it to the parks... just used it for research the night before and tried to remember as we went along!

Amy, you certainly don't need to worry about buyer's remorse for those clothes... Alex will wear them all summer!

Kathy

Ok first clarification....

the next Novemeber comment...really means next next Nov I guess in 010.

and :banana:for finding those soap pads I took down 3 of the little pads and ended up using two of them. just FYI

and the game! Have you played yet? oh you guys are going to have so much fun!

Here is the double stroller picture I mentioned before

100_2700.jpg

now KIM Aldine is almost 10 and Mae is 6...so a little older and younger than your boys (right?)...so if you think they'd take turns or only Zach would need the stroller I think you can get away w/ the one. Could they fit in the double maybe yes...but tightly and then if cranky that could lead to some personal space issues.....

hope that helps.

the 40% promo....:rolleyes1:eek:I'v put myself in a corner here if I say more I may give away something I'm not ready to reveal yet one way or ther other....whoopsie....

Girls dismeet weekend
KathyRN....and others I have a sneaky thought in my head for this but a few years off in the making.....;);)

No buyers remorse for clothes... it's about the Nintendo DSi, the Didj, The Magic Kingdom Game, The Hidden Mickey's book, the Disney CD I had to have, etc. etc. I guess that doesn't sound too bad right now, but I know there are more things. But I got over it pretty quickly when DH bought a new Weber grill. :rolleyes1

Don't worry - we'll count you in on our imaginary girls getaway weekend! :rotfl: And the real one too if we have one. ;)

Just two soap pads, huh? I figured they were a single use kind of thing and I'd need one per day. I picked up the second package - just in case. :rolleyes1 I guess that's how we always end up with too much luggage. :rotfl2:

Zach & I have played the game - he's not big into games but he like it. :thumbsup2 I'm sure Alex will love it when we play this weekend.

Thanks for the stroller picture. Alex is 8 but small - just over 48 inches and 50 pounds. Zach is 5 1/2 - about 45 inches & 43 pounds. With the cost of 2 singles being less than 1 double I think I'd rather have them separated so our plan should work out well.

Someone's got a secret!! Do tell!! :flower3:

I'll be hidding in Amy's luggage......

I thought I was going to hide in yours? :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

imaginary oh no....this has to happen ladies!!!!!

sounds good and if DH doesn't care then go for it!
Someone's got a secret!! Do tell!! :flower3:

sorry you'll have to wait.....I'll try not to tell till you get back...something to look forward to huh?
I thought I was going to hide in yours? :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

well who's luggage am I hiding in

Sorry ladies - I got sidetracked talking about strollers and who is going to hide in whose luggage for our super special girls weekend getaway!

Amy, Where did you find the scotch-brite soap filled pad? I would love to find something like this.

I looked at Target and Stop & Shop (grocery store) without any luck - I finally found them at Shaw's (grocery store).

Yea, Disney mail!:yay:

We've got the Magic Kingdom game also. I think we may have gotten it before our last Disney trip in '05. It's fun, but it's Disneyland. Is there a Disney World version?

I wish you luck with the clothes. My experience with CP is that their clothes tend to shrink more than some others, so you'll probably be fine.:thumbsup2

I think our game is Disneyland too because the castle is called Snow White's castle and a few other rides have different names too. But I didn't know that Disneyland had a Magic Kingdom??

The clothes fit Alex - they are just really long. Luckily the shorts have a drawstring. I went to get my camera after he tried them on and before I came out of the bedroom he was throwing the clothes down the hall at me! :rotfl: Oh well... I'll have to take a picture when he's wearing them on vacation.

Yeay for Disney mail!!! We have the Hidden Mickeys book and really like it! Okay, you need to take pictures of the game board for those of us contemplating buying it...:rolleyes1 Pretty please? :goodvibes

Coming up!

Disney Mail Rocks!! :rockband:

Cute clothes! I was reading another PTR and she had posted some pics of some adorable girl's clothes. I still feel like boys get the short end of the stick in the clothing department. We just don't have as much to choose from for them. :sad2: Oh well.

Looking for Hidden Mickey's will be fun! You'll have to report back on how it goes for you...are you going to do the scavenger hunts in that book or just look as you go?

I agree about boys clothes vs. girls clothes - but just think of how much money we save. :thumbsup2

I'm not sure how we'll use the book - I'll probably do some reading on the airplane. Plus it will depend on Alex's interest. ;)

I think our game is Disneyland too because the castle is called Snow White's castle and a few other rides have different names too. But I didn't know that Disneyland had a Magic Kingdom??

I don't believe there is a Disney World edition - just Disneyland. But, you're right. I believe the two parks are called Disneyland Park and California Adventure - don't think it's called the Magic Kingdom. Hmmmmm. I'll have to ask my friend who is a Disneyland expert.

Each player takes five attraction cards - one of each color (one from each "land"). Basically you have to move around the board to each of your attractions then return to the Entrance. The first one back wins. There's a little more to it than that, but you get the main idea.

Back to the discussion of Disney World vs. Land - here are a few of the attractions that I'm not familiar with from WDW: Sleeping Beauty Castle (sorry thought it was Snow White - but I guess she didn't have a castle, did she? You can tell I don't have girls...), Tarzan's Treehouse, Disneyland Monorail System (Tomorrowland), Autopia, Mickey's House & Minnie's House are on the game board as one attraction... hmmm... well I guess they are more liberal in California? :lmao:

Here are some pictures of the game board:

That Disneyland game looks adorable! Makes me wish I still had a little one to buy for!

Here are the things I hadn't completed from last week's list:

4 weeks to go: (3/29 – 4/4)
• Start putting Zach’s music on the ipod shuffle - TIM
• Put my music on DH’s old ipod - TIM
• Make sure DH has good games on his new ipod touch - TIM
• Make emergency phone number list for neighbor/moms
• Inventory batteries – buy more rechargeables if needed – Buy 2 sets on Sunday when we p/u the DS. - DONE

As you can see, I got one thing done (batteries) and still have one to do (emergency list). DH is a big ol' slacker and hasn't done any of his things. I'm sure he'll be playing with the ipods the night before we leave as I run around gathering everything but the kitchen sink to squeeze into our suitcases. :rolleyes1

Here's this week's list:
3 weeks to go: (4/5 – 4/11)
• Print menus - DONE
• Print DDP snack list - DONE
• Make ADR cards - DONE
• Make touring plan cards - tonight
• Let schools know about kids missing 5/4 – too early
• Confirm DME reservation - DONE
• Start matching outfits and putting in Ziplocs - Started
• Make mousekeeping envelopes with kids - DONE
• Organize/label toiletries – next week
• Watch the “Stranger Danger” vidoeo - next week or weekend
• Order Headphones & chewy tubes for Zach - DONE

Only a few things left over... And technically I have until tomorrow to get them finished... just don't know how much time I'll have since we'll be getting ready for Easter tomorrow. I'm having my mom, brother, niece and nephew over for an Easter egg hunt in the morning - I'm just offering bagels & muffins. Then I'm cooking a turkey dinner for us & my mom. Should be low key, but still a lot to do. And I haven't bought groceries yet... it's going to be a zoo tomorrow at the store! :scared1:

Here is my list for next week:

2 weeks to go: (4/12 – 4/18)
• 4/12 – Easter
• 4/18 – Alex has a swim meet
• Buy Alex’s special bread/almond butter - already bought bread (it's sealed so it lasts forever)
• Buy snacks for travel day - bought some, need more
• Pull apart Disney binder and take only what’s needed
• Make daily park bags - ziploc with the days essentials
• Start packing into suitcases – making myself wait until after Easter to drag the suitcases upstairs! - already done... :rolleyes1
• Get money organized
• Roll coins from change jar
• Get my glasses/sunglasses adjusted at Lenscrafters & return sneakers at Kohl's
• Make list of addresses for postcards/get postcard stamps
• Make list of DISers/TGMers who have overlapping trips
• Online check in!!
• Call Disney – confirm room requests & DME info entered online

That's all for now...

ok the whole snow white castle had me confused at first i was thinking is your game different then mine?

I swear...someone else must know this....but i really thought at one time even at wdw they had temperarily changed the name of the swiss family robinson treehouse to tarzan's treehouse to be more current then changed it make to the original???? :confused3

anyone?

Does disneyland have a monorail? I don't remeber that from when we went back in the late 80's....that threw me too amy i had that attraction card when we played before we went on our trip....

that disneyland game looks adorable! Makes me wish i still had a little one to buy for!

who says you have to be "little" to play a disney board game. ;)

i was gonna say that too.....:goodvibes

K, I just checked and Disneyland does indeed have a monorail. Autopia is Disneyland's version of Tomorrowland Speedway, and Tarzan's Treehouse is a redo of the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse. Pictures on Wikipedia look pretty cool. I don't know about WDW changing their treehouse ever. Sounds possible.:confused3

Amy your pictures of the game make me want to go tear my kids off the Wii to play it with me!:rotfl:

Your husband sounds like me with my ipod. Right now its playlist consists of Rocketship Run by the Lauri Berkner Band, Peter Paul and Mommy and a bunch of Christmas music. Think its time to change my playlist? I'm planning to any day now...:rolleyes1

:lmao: Reminds me of how Ed somehow wound up with a new flatscreen TV from Sears when we were shopping for our kitchen appliances!! :lmao:

I'd like to go to Disneyland someday... my neighbor (the one who might do the girls weekend with me) grew up in California and knows Disneyland pretty well. But she's only been to WDW once - and never been to Epcot!

I love Laurie Berkner!! :thumbsup2 We have a CD in the car!

Okay - I asked my Disneyland expert and he said they do refer to Disneyland as the Magic Kingdom. :thumbsup2

According to the WDW website, on April 30th, park hours have been extended from 9 to 10pm. :cool1: But... Spectromagic has been moved from 8 to 10! :scared1: Wishes is still scheduled for 9pm.

Has anyone heard of the only Spectro of the night being AFTER Wishes??

I posted a thread on TGM and one responder called WDW and spoke to a CM who confirmed the time changes...

If this is true, we probably won't be able to stay for Spectro that night... we had planned to head to MK after dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe and stay for Spectro and maybe Wishes. (We might see Wishes on another night).

The only other night Spectro is showing is Saturday, May 2nd at 9pm. We can plan to see it that night if we have to, but we had planned to spend the whole day at Epcot, plus we had hoped to see it at 8pm. This new plan will put us at MK three evenings in a row... :scared:

That is odd Amy! But, I really wouldn't hold my breath on the times. When I initially got the hours for our trip, they weren't going to be showing Spectro at all. Then whatever happened and it ended up being at both 8 AND 10! :confused3
