I have stayed alot of times in the last few years and seen 3 resorts built since I joined. It would be nice if they would change the layout on the next resort.Old Key West is the only different resort in disney and thats great but I think the next one should be different. What do the other members think about the rooms changing.

I dunno.

It probably goes without saying that any redesign wouldn't add any square footage to the room. And other than making the space larger, I really don't have any noteworthy beefs with the layout.

In fact, when we recently stayed at BWV, the one thing that DW really liked compared to rooms at OKW was the fact that they moved the functional bathroom vanity from the shower/stool area to the whirpool tub area. At OKW, all of the functional space is crammed into the one room, and there really isn't much you can do at that sink by the tub. The more recent design seems to distribute the traffic better.

Anyway, speaking for myself, unless we can convince them to add some sqft to the living area or balcony, I don't really have any complaints with the floorplan.

If your talking about a sleep 6 1 BR or bunk beds or similar issues, it's not going to happen and is not a reasonable request, IMO. There are reasons things are the way they are. DVC, and most other timeshare systems, try to keep as many things similar as possible form resort to resort. It makes reservations, upkeep, etc cheaper and more efficient. Also remember that DVC is functioning in a timeshare world and there are forces in that environment that affect the decisions.

We can certaily discuss a lot of those issues, we have in the past. Things like double lockoff 3 BR units, 2 Queens in the master, 1 BR sleep 6, bunk beds in the second BR and many more have been suggested on various threads. It has been a while since we've beat this horse but you may want to search and see if you can find any of the old threads.

We could have used another shower/toilet rather than the jacuzzi when we had 8 in a 2 bedroom recently.

We also noticed that the washer/dryer was fairly loud and interfered with TV watching in the living room area. I don't know where else it could go, unless they reconfigured the closets.

OKW is more like other timeshares - this model did not work for DVC - most of the members of DVC - are not owners of other timeshares - but Disney fans.

So DVC came up with more of a hotel style timeshare. Some people hate it - they have OKW. Others love it and sales are much, much better. So I really doubt that DVC will ever go back to OKW plan.

Although I too would like a laundry room with a bigger washer and dryer - remember that the real laundry room (used for the studio) has a much bigger washer and dryer if needed (it is free).
Also would love the bunk bed option - even in the master - a queen bed and bunk beds would be great for families who really don't need or want the 2-bedroom - but when their children get to be a certain age they don't have a lot of choices. Of course there is the hotel one - dad sleeps with the son, mom sleeps with the daughter - but is that a DVC vacation......

I understand the market forces that determine how the DVC rooms are furnished...but it is nice to dream, isn't it?

I would love to see king-size beds in the studios. And/or keep the queen but replace the sleeper with bunks in a studio.

I strongly agree. We would prefer the extra shower/toilet with four in a one bedroom and five or six in a two bedroom. Especially when you have non family members with you such as dd's friends.
We find the jacuzzi bath a waste of space. I remember trying it out on our visit "home" but it took so long to fill and the novelty lasted a couple of minutes. Never tried it again, prefer the hot tub by the pool instead.

I agree. I like the current layout, but it would be great to shake it up a bit. To me they look exactly the same. But I'm one who won't remember the color of the wall or pattern of the bedspread for the life of me!! Change the layout a bit. Why three equal rectangles for the 2bdrm? I think a smaller Master and larger dining area would be a positive change. It get a little crowded with the dining area in the path to the living room space.

I agree with you on the dining area. It's not easy to get in and out of kitchen and into the living room.We had a 2bedroom last dec and I was using the porch to get around.I know they made some bathroom changes but they can still improve on some things.I like DVC so much that I just bought points in SSR and thats my 3rd home resort.

I think the hot tub was for more of the husband and wife crowd.I remember seeing the BWV AD and it was candle light and wine with the boardwalk view in the backround.with no kids in the room.Maybe we should have theme rooms that have no hot tub and extra showers with bunk beds and king beds.Maybe phase 3 of SSR could be just that?

I think the OKW size and layout are the best on property and we like VB size and layout off property as well. Don't know about HH.

Its not that we don't like the current layout or size, but we prefer the original.

I don't think that DVC went away from the OKW design because they didn't think it was working for families. I think it just didn't lend itself to a hotel type unit and DVC figured they could make more money with smaller units. I haven't heard many people that didn't like the basic unit design of OKW, other than the early design flaw of no door to the BR though the laundry, what's not to like, even if you don't care for the resort itself overall.
