Help we are probably staying at VWL in 2 bdr and would love a great view of lake if possible, please help, thank you!

Even if your facing the lake, you won't be able to see through the trees/forest.

As others have stated, there are no "great views of the lake" at VWL. As you can see in this picture from disneypix.com, the villas (red roof) are surrounded by trees.

Makes it so much easier to understand when you can see a photo. :)

thank you everybody the picture sure helped. I had no idea that the villas were completely surrounded. We have our choice of staying in 2bdr villa or having 2 courtyard rooms now I'm not sure what I should do, I know that the 2 bdr would be awesome for the size and amenities but I love the courtyard views.

We had a view of the lake....albeit a small piece. It also overlooked the Villa pool. I think our room number #s were 3511 and 3509. We loved the location of our room cause it was very close to the elevators and had a nice view.

Not sure if this is standard practice or not, but in '02 I had paid for two connecting and/or adjoining "woods" view rooms at the WL. Upon check-in, the CM informed me we had been "upgraded" to two "courtyard" rooms. What we got were two adjoining courtyard rooms facing the VWL----not the main WL courtyard. We didn't realize this until we reached our room. For me, though I didn't complain, it was a little disappointing. The VWL courtyard view is just not the same as the main courtyard view. So if you're banking on this view I'd make sure you make that clear at time of making the reservation. I never realized the rooms we got were considered "courtyard" rooms unless the CM pulled a fast one on me ? I know prior to the VWL being there, the rooms I got would have been considered "woods view". Just wanted to share my experience since you mentioned the view was important to you. We could barely see the lake through the trees from our rooms.

Maria...I guess they consider that overlooking the quiet pool is a courtyard? No way are they as good a view as the regular WL courtyard views!

I post that picture often because VWL really does have almost exclusively woods views. On the Bay Lake side, you can sometimes see a bit of the lake, but none of them really look out over the lake.

As for your decision, we've stayed both at VWL and WL. You can make your own list of pros and cons, and not sure what's most important to you.

WL Advantages
Closer to main pool, restaurants and all hotel amenities.
2 rooms might be preferable if privace wanted for each group
Potentially better view.

VWL Advantages
Potential that 2 rooms at WL will not be close to each other
Full kitchen/microwave/refrigerator
Clothes washer/dryer
Everyone in one spot...can be a plus or minus.

You didn't say how many people in your party. That too might determine which way you'd rather go.

I never thought they considered it a courtyear until that stay. I was suprised, but I was thinking maybe that's the only section they could get me two rooms next to eachother so they played-it-up like it was some wonderful upgrade. Honestly, I would have preferred the other wing with a woods view based on the fact that the pool was very noisy at night. Not a huge deal, but since I lost out on the spectacular views of the main courtyard, it just didn't have an impact on me. Without the main courtyard, you miss out on the lake view (with views of EWP), the geyser and the flowing stream that goes into the main pool.

I can't add much to Granny's "advantages" list, but I will say if it's important to have connecting rooms (vs adjoining) you will most likely be better off with a 2 bedroom at the Villas. I know they told us in '02 that they had absolutely no connecting rooms left upon our check-in and this was a request I had made at time of making the ressie. Not sure how many connecting there actually are at WL, but when we go as a family (there's 5 of us) we like to be all together vs having to go out in the hallway to get into the other room. Just something to consider pokeysmom :wave2:
