Can we eat on the bus?

Seeing as how Disney still serves Uncrustables at their restaurants, those with life-threatening peanut allergies might want to consider vacationing elsewhere?kids with peanutty hands will be touching everything from bus seats to railings to lap bars to paper towel dispensers. What can you do?

You can't control the folks around you.

Amen :thumbsup2

No you can't and it's a nightmare I can assure you! :thumbsup2 To say simply "vacation" elsewhere is ridiculous simply because it's a problem 24/7 and if you don't have to deal with the problem, think of yourself as very lucky indeed. Personally I have to wipe down everything as much as possible, use paper towels or tissues to avoid touching railings, lap bars, door handles and more. I've had more breakouts of hives than I care to think about. Not just at WDW but everywhere. Thankfully my allergy is only life threatening if I ingest peanuts.

Wanted to send a virtual (((hug))) to you. I do not have a peanut allergy and used to think it was ridiculous to ask folks not to eat peanuts on planes and such. I've had a change of heart due to my gluten allergy though. I am thankful that mine is not life threatening, and I do try to be more empathetic to folks with allergies now as I know how much of a pain it is for me to deal with mine.

Back on topic - I carried coffee in a.to go cup every morning on the bus. Some mornings I ate a banana and a rice Krispy treat too. I think it was day 3 I noticed the no food or drink sign so then I stopped with the food and just had my.coffee.

Thank you! So many people think it's just if someone "eats" peanuts (or any other allergy) For me, it's only life threatening at this point if I eat the peanuts. However even if someone else eats them and breathes in my direction, I break out in hives. If they have touched peanuts and we touch the same door handle, I break out in hives. Not just my hand but all over my body. Sometimes it's happened and I've had no idea "how" it happened. I hadn't noticed anyone eating peanuts, I've just somehow come into contact with them. It's a problem 24/7.

if you are so allergic to a common item like peanuts that you cannot be near people who might have that item on their breath without having a severe physical reaction, then that means there are a lot of places you have to stay out of. Glad to hear you have handled it, since there is no way to ensure that someone doesn't board a bus and stand next to you right after ingesting peanuts.

OK...so here's the plan. Give everyone a granola bar and capri sun. Have them start eating...if someone tells you that your kids can't eat on the bus instruct them (pre coached of course) to shove their food in their mouths as fast as they can and then pretend they weren't eating. Problem solved. :rotfl::rotfl:

This is part of the issue with the world, people don't think rules apply to them or look for ways around them.

:thumbsup2 There are so many places I have to avoid due to my allergies. At WDW, the Chefs advised me to avoid Ohana for dinner due to the peanut sauce. It's difficult (impossible really) to avoid everywhere where I could come into contact with peanuts. Sometimes it just happens randomly. Aside from knowing I must have come into contact with peanuts "somewhere" it's often impossible to know exactly.

We need to cure all allergies! I don't have any friends or close family with any but it really can cause issues in the world for people who do. We seem to be as a species developing more and more allergies as well getting to the point where we can't even restrict an item from certain areas (aka peanuts)

:thumbsup2 I have 17 food allergies and intolerances. Thankfully peanuts is the only life threatening allergy I have. It's also the most serious since it's airborne and contact, not just ingesting them.

We were told no eating or drinking (closed containers are fine) due to spills and crumbs that attract ants. Having dealt with ants in my Jeep, I couldn't imagine a bus.

I've never found the need to either eat or drink on the Disney buses.

Totally agree... If you can't get up and be ready without cramming a granola bar or some such and downing a drink... there's something wrong..

Usually a good walk from resort to bus station and you're not consuming a 3 course breakfast...

It's bad enough with the regular trash guests leave on a bus without adding food papers, residue and split liquids....

Signs on bus state, no food..no drink.. !

Eating and drinking were not allowed when I was driving. However, we aslo were not supposed to be food nazi's. I would politely ask that guests refrain from eating or drinking but if push came to shove, I would back off. Management will always side with the guest.

For the sake of other guests, please don't eat or drink on the bus.

PS: Ants were the least of the problems with dropped foods, cockroaches were the big problem. You can only fumigate a bus so often as you lose it for service for a couple of days at a time.
