Can we eat on the bus?

Sorry guys, can't remember if there are signs or not...would it be okay if we ate a snacky breakfast on the bus on the way to the parks in the morning? Like a granola bar and a capri sun or something?

Not supposed to eat,drink or smoke(of course) on the buses,but many Guests do anyway.

OK...so here's the plan. Give everyone a granola bar and capri sun. Have them start eating...if someone tells you that your kids can't eat on the bus instruct them (pre coached of course) to shove their food in their mouths as fast as they can and then pretend they weren't eating. Problem solved.

If Disney didn't at least try to "discourage" eating on the buses ,they would all look like the picture below.

(These items "could" have just fallen from a stroller,but if there was an "open eating" policy on the buses,they would all look like the Fantasmic! theater does after a F! performance.)

you might want to give them a water bottle with a screw-on lid as the beverage...the driver will probably tell them to finish the Capri Sun's before getting on the bus. Last time we rode the bus, the family in front of us had open drinks (sodas without lids) and the driver told them they had to dispose of them before getting on the bus. But people with water bottles w/lids walked right on of course.

Could you imagine if driver had to make a sudden stop? That driver saved someone's clothes for a soda mishap.
Obviously the reason for no eating or drinking is the spill factor. Plus the garbage mess. Some people refuse to pick up what they've dropped. Like it's beneath them to cleanup after themselves. Very sad!

As a safety issue, children should never drink Capris Sun or box drinks in a moving vehicle. Those straws are sharp enough that if the vehicle stops quickly the straw can puncture them. When I took first aid for children and babies, the instructor went into detail that I won't gross you out with about some kids he had seen with straw related injuries. The hard reusable plastic straws are safe because they are blunter. A drink spill would be unfortunate, a trip to the ER would be much worse.

another problem with eating on buses can be your child has something with peanuts and then excitedly touches another child who then has breathing or other reaction. yes I have a grandson with allergy and just touching could cause bus to have to be met by med techs

This could happen if someone ate a peanut product before getting on the bus as well. If you have a child with such a severe peanut allergy (which is actually quite rare), then it's your responsibility to watch your own child.

The drivers are responsible for keeping those buses clean. So, if they actually see a mess, they then stop and and clean up the mess...which makes them late getting to other stops.
If they don't see the mess, then other guests have to deal with it when they board the bus. But in this 'it's all about me' time, people just don't seem to care about others.

I tend to eat or drink before getting on the busses or boats or any form of public (disney) transportation. That being said I have snacked or taken a drink a time or two on the busses with no problem. Drinks with lids usually are okay to be brought onto the busses. If someone has an allergy unfortanelty the people in their party should be the ones to watch out for it.

I have seen bus drivers allow on resort mugs and soda/water bottles with a cap or screw-on lid (the kind that can be sealed) but not allow paper cups with plastic lids or open cans or cups.

As for the food, they have signs and they announce no food on the buses but I've seen folks eating on the buses. I've also seen a mess on the buses.

Typically we stick to these rules for the Motor coach rides, there has been times we have been finishing our grab and go breakfast, Granola bar or whatever on the bus if it came quickly upon our arrival to the bus stops...

And we at times have a screw top bottle in our bag or whatever that we will take a sip....

But please do not bring a picnic, lol

Yes,major bummer.

Before I knew the rules,I used to LOVE eating a huge plate of La Cantina de San Angel nachos on the bus back to my resort from Epcot.

This could happen if someone ate a peanut product before getting on the bus as well. If you have a child with such a severe peanut allergy (which is actually quite rare), then it's your responsibility to watch your own child.

I wish it was that simple. All I need to do is stand next to someone eating peanuts. If they breathe near me, I'm covered in hives within 2 minutes. It's not just touching or eating them I've personally asked people not to eat peanuts if I'm in a situation where I literally can't move away (like in a theatre)

Directly to the OP, I have walked onto the bus each morning with a coffee (take away cup) and never been asked to throw it away. We don't eat on the bus though.

Seeing as how Disney still serves Uncrustables at their restaurants, those with life-threatening peanut allergies might want to consider vacationing elsewhere?kids with peanutty hands will be touching everything from bus seats to railings to lap bars to paper towel dispensers. What can you do?
