Can we do this?

I am traveling in June with a group of 10 people(3 adults, 4 teens and 3 children) We are staying two nights elsewhere before we go to the Poly for 3 nights. Our plan is to go to DTD on Sunday following church. Is there any way we could get on the monorail and just ride it once around to get the kids psyched up? I know that the monorail doesn't go to DTD so could we take a bus to the Poly or something and then hop a ride? My girls, my mom and I have all experienced WDW magic but the rest of the group have either not been at all or only taken a short one day trip. This is a group of youth from our church and I want to make it a great trip for them.

Thanks!

Yep, you can do that.

Hop a bus at DTD to any of the monorail resorts....
Poly, GF or Contemporary. Once you get off the bus you can check out the resort and then hop on the monorail for a ride around. Riding the monorail does not require park tickets.

Great way to get everyone psyched! :wizard:

I would also recommend changing monorails at the TTC to take a ride over to Epcot. The monorail makes a nice loop through Epcot to give you a free sample view of SSE!
Have fun! :sunny:

Thank you so much! We have worked very hard over the past year to earn the money we need to take this trip as a group and everyone is so excited. My girls, having been to WDW already, keep the rest of the group excited by bringing something different for them to see each time we have a group meeting. It is so fun to hear the plans they are making. We leave at 4 a.m. on June 10th so they are counting down!

Thanks again and if anyone has any other suggestions to help make our trip perfect please let me know!

If you are going to ride the monorail in the afternoon, you can also exit the monorail at MK and take a boat over to Ft. Wilderness campground. They have the sing a long/movie every night, which my kids love (we will be there at that time). You can bring or buy makings for smores, check out the campground, enjoy the sing a long, watch the movie or even go to the beach to watch wishes over the MK. The movie/sing a long is free. In June the sing a long starts at 8:00.

You sure can. Take a bus to Epcot or to MK and just ride that rail. Like the post above says, try the ferry too. exploring it all is half the fun. We tried to work out ways to take all the different transpos as amny times as we could ( without just riding around in circles :) to stop the monotony of bus rides. And the kids loved it!

The busses do not go from the Parks to DTD/ If you wanted to go directly to one of the parks from DTD you could walk over to SSR and take the bus from there but I think your best bet is to take the bus to one of the monorail resorts and then take the monrail from there. I second going to the campfire singalong my kids really love it.

People do this all the time. Many often combine the monorail ride with a meal at one of the restaurants in teh MK resorts like 'Ohana or Chef Mickeys. And if you're there late enough in the evening, you can catch the MK fireworks from the observation area in teh Contemporary, or from the beach at Polynesian.

This is great! Thanks again.

I didn't know about the sing/along. That sounds like fun.

I don't know why I didn't think about watching the fireworks from the beach. That is a great idea!

Both ideas are free and that makes them even better. We have had to raise nearly $7000 over the past year to make this trip happen so we don't have alot of extra. Any more free or inexpensive ideas?

If you are going to be on the beach checking out Wishes also include the Floating Electrical Pageant. It starts at 9 pm off the Poly docks and then goes around to all of the resorts on Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake. :sunny:

The water parade starts at 9:45 at the Fort!

Be aware of how time-consuming it can be to get to DTD. I tried to go there from Epcot, not realizing they didn't have direct transportation from the parks to DTD. I had to take the monorail to the Contemporary, and had just missed the bus to DTD - had to wait nearly half an hour for the bus to DTD. All in all, it took well over an hour (close to an hour and a half) to get there from Epcot. It's easier to take a bus to DTD directly from your resort - a much more direct route. I was very frustrated and cranky!
