Can We Do Magic Now? A 2016 TR Adventure. *Complete and DL Paris TR Link Added

To be alone with two little ones in a foreign country sounds hard. Great that you have that support network. I definitely would offer some help too, if you lived in my neighbourhood.

Doesn't Landon visit german "Kindergarten"?

Oversea flights really cost a fortune. Awesome that you got a deal!

The pool looks amazing for Landons age.

I would love to ride Soarin' with my family in October. My kids are pretty tall and DD is 3 years and 9 months by October. She is almost 100 cm now and she only needs 1.6 more till October. So that will work. But she only rode merry-go-rounds and smaller rides but never bigger ones and I hope she's not scared because of the height when she's riding Soarin'. Well I will see how she does on Barnstormers and Seven dwarfs mine.

Thank you for that! My neighbors have been so kind to me since Alex left. They invited me to sit with their group at our fasching parade, take walks with me in the afternoon, let the kids feed their sheep, and have really shown me the true meaning of hospitality. And my landlord cuts our grass and takes our trash to the curb out of the goodness of his heart, which I really appreciate.

Landon is on a waitlist for our local German kindergarten. Unfortunately, at the moment there's not enough space for everyone, so the schools aren't accepting Americans until all the local residents get spots, first. Makes sense, and I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that he'll get into one by next fall. To be perfectly honest, I'd rather send him to a German kindergarten than to our base school. :rolleyes1:rotfl:

It's hard to know how kids will do with roller coasters. Especially because Barnstormer and Soarin' are two different kinds of thrill rides. I guess the only way to know for sure is to let them try it once and watch for their reaction!

I'm not good with the interacting either. Kids have no fear. Danielle use to talk to the people going down the same aisles as we were at the grocery store.

It's the same for me. I'm so glad there is photo pass or I wouldn't be in very many family photos at all.

Good analogy.

Landon is the same way. This base is pretty small, and I swear everyone knows my son. We walk into our grocery store or the library and everyone goes, "Hi, Landon!" Or random kids come up and say hello to him by name, and all I can ask him is, "How do you know these people?" He just talks to everyone!
When we were last at Disney, he had just turned 3 and wasn't a great talker yet, so I'm really looking forward to seeing how he interacts with characters now. I am sure it'll be interesting...

Perfect timing. We need to compare schedules and try to meet up.

Yes! Wait until you get to do this without teenagers. I'm looking forward to that.

Great that you enjoyed an adult day.

:rotfl: I can't even imagine the teenage years right now. A group I'm apart of recently had a mentor mom's panel at brunch, and one of them had my friends and I cracking up. It was along the lines of, "My husband and I used to get a few hours every night to ourselves. The kids were in bed and we could watch whatever we wanted to. Now. Now, the teenagers are squeezing between us on the couch, using the remote to put on some silly Netflix show they wanna watch."

So, when I saw that you're getting some park time without your kids, I realized you are probably very right. At that age, they have so many opinions on what rides they want to do and what they want to eat, and typically, they are pretty vocal about them. :rotfl:

Right now, my tentative schedule looks like this:
21st: MK
22nd: Epcot and DHS
23rd: MK
24th: Epcot and MK
25th: MK and AK

If you're in any of those parks on those days, definitely let me know! I'd love to have a DISmeet.

Yay for another Disney trip!! Hopefully the solo flight with the two kids won't be too bad and the time with family will make it a little easier to deal with Alex being deployed.

I'm kinda cracking up at Alex's comment on the Team Member costumes at Transformers. I get it, you want the uniforms to be accurate, but ... really, that's something only a military person would notice (and be upset about). I'm guessing your average theme park guest wouldn't know the difference. And that's why they can get away with it.

Reading this update really made me want to go to Diagon Alley. I love that it made you feel like you were experiencing something new in the Harry Potter universe. That's such a special experience.

I am really looking forward to going back to Florida and getting some days at Disney. Evie was only 6 months when we left, and Landon is more of a kid than a toddler now; I can't wait to show them sights and take them on excursions and see their reactions.

That's exactly what I told Alex about the silly Transformer costumes. And his reply was, "Well, Disney would think about all it's guests, not just the Average Joe.":rolleyes2

This was such a great read (and pretty much all I did with my day off, haha)! Best of luck to you on your upcoming trip :) From the sound of it, it seems like you will do just fine. I hope you enjoy every moment you get to spend with your family and I look forward to your next update!

Thank you! I appreciate you reading my report and will take all the words of encouragement I can get!:rotfl: The knowledge that I'll have pretty beaches and Disney parks waiting for me at the end of our flights has really helped with easing the nerves. It's hard to get anxious when I know I'm going back to familiar territory.

Right now, my tentative schedule looks like this:
21st: MK
22nd: Epcot and DHS
23rd: MK
24th: Epcot and MK
25th: MK and AK

If you're in any of those parks on those days, definitely let me know! I'd love to have a DISmeet.

We have quite a few time we should cross paths.

I don't have hoppers this trip but looks like we're thinking alike. We will be in MK on the 21st, DHS on the 22nd, 23rd we're in Ak, 24th Epcot and back to the MK on the 25th.

Once you're plans firm up we can make firmer planes. I'm really looking forward to meeting y'all.

Awesome! I'm waiting for Landon's well baby check up on the 9th to see what his height is. If he's still far away from that magic 40" mark, I'll probably change some of our plans. But I know for sure we're going to the MK the evening of the 21st and Epcot on the 24th. (We have a Via Napoli reservation that day.) Not sure if you're a social media person, but if you are I can PM with my full name and we can find each other on facebook. I'll check that on a more regular basis, especially at WDW, and I'll post pics of the parks I am in.

April 26th, 2016:

Our last morning was kind of a mess.

Alex and I woke up around 6 a.m. I got up and started getting dressed, and I happened to look over at Alex. He looked like death. Pale, bloodshot eyes, haggard…the whole nine yards.

I thought for sure we were about to be in for Round 2 of the stomach bug.

Alex was definitely in rough shape; I hurried down to the food court to buy some eggs and toast so he could take some Motrin and while he was nibbling on the fare, I called Disney and cancelled our reservation at the Boardwalk. Well, actually, I had to move our reservation to a new date down the road and then call a few days later and cancel. With room-only bookings, you can only cancel without losing the first night’s deposit three days in advance.

The guy on the phone was quite snippy with me about this and kept admonishing me for not being able to show up for my reservation. He was really belittling me to the point where I had to cut him off and go, “Look, my husband is getting sick in the bathroom as we speak. What would you like me to do? Load him into the car like that and drive to Disney? We didn’t PLAN on this; it wasn’t like we woke up this morning and decided NOT to go to a theme park.”

That settled him down a bit.

Meanwhile, the food was starting to help Alex a bit.

He didn’t want me to, but I called down to the Cabana lobby and asked if it would be possible to either request a late check out or stay another night. The price for leaving at 2pm was just 30 dollars shy of another night, so I went ahead and booked us the night. Alex felt extremely guilty, and he really did not want to stay at Cabana, but there was no way I was risking him traveling when he felt so poor.

A few hours passed, the medicine kicked in, and Alex was on the upswing.

As it turned out, he had gotten a migraine.

This wasn’t completely uncommon for him. He’s always suffered from headaches and a few months ago he had gotten a pretty rough one. We figured being out in the heat for two days straight, not drinking nearly enough water, the junk snacks we’d munched on, and the alcohol he’d consumed all blended together to make a lovely Migraine Cocktail.

Around 11 o’clock, Alex was on the turnaround enough to convince me that he didn’t want to spend another night in a hotel room. He said if we weren’t staying at Disney, then he wanted to go home.

I could respect that.

So we loaded up the luggage in the car and went down to the front desk to check out. Alex really was doing a lot better. I won’t say he was running at 100%, but he was definitely well enough to drive. The headache was lingering, but it was more just annoying at that point. What was front and center by that time was everyone’s hunger.

We all needed food!

And most of you guy know my husband pretty well.

You know he can be very convincing when he wants to be.

Despite the migraine, despite how late it already was, and despite the fact that we were all mentally tired, Alex persuaded me to go to a Disney park for an hour or so.

Landon, after all, still had his military ticket. And we’d never gotten him a meet and greet with his then-favorite character.

And a family had to eat. Why not get some food at Disney?

We drove over to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and parked, then grabbed some chicken sandwiches from the ABC Commissary.

I know, not your idea of a last hurrah when it comes to Disney.

But, that was the one place we could find Landon’s character, so we had to take what we could get.

Alex wanted to see the new (at the time) Star Wars Launch Bay. We didn’t meet anyone or trade with Jawas, but we did check out the displays and tried to see what all the fuss was about. Personally, I loved the old Animation building and wished it hadn’t changed, but I accept that a lot of Star Wars fans were thrilled with this new area.

Next up was the big moment.

Landon was meeting Jake from Jake and the Neverland Pirates!

01.jpg

Evie wasn’t sure what to make of him:

02.jpg

I could have been imagining it, but I think Jake knew how happy Landon was, because he spent a long time with my son. He let him give him extra hugs and posed a few different way for photos.

03.jpg

The meet was everything we hoped it would be and more. Alex and I were a little disappointed we weren’t spending our last Disney afternoon in a more classic park like Epcot, but after we saw Landon’s face light up when he got to Jake, being in our least favorite park didn’t matter.

We’d just made Landon’s day; we were leaving Disney on a high note.

After our Jake meet, it was time for a bio break. While we were over by the bathrooms, Landon spotted another character and asked us if he could meet them. Alex and I were hesitant.

Alex’s response was, “Landon, if you can name that person, I’ll take you to meet them.”

The kid had never seen an episode, but somehow he managed to shout out, “Doc! It’s Doc McStuffins!”

And sure enough it was.

Well, a deal was a deal.

My sweet husband agreed to take the kids to the meet and greet and informed me I needed to go into some shops and find myself a nice gift. It was meant to be my Mother’s Day present since we’d be traveling on the actual day.

So while I was perusing through a certain collection of bags, Alex was snagging these gems:

04.jpg

05.jpg

06.jpg

07.jpg

08.jpg

At the time, meeting Doc wasn’t a big deal, but now Alex and I get a kick out of the interaction. Landon was telling us something and we didn’t even know it.

The kid is now OBSESSED with Doc McStuffins. He had a Doc-themed birthday, he collects Doc toys, plays doctor all the time, and talks about the characters non-stop. If we had known that show was going to be such a big part of his life, we would have paid more attention to that meet!

Alex had finished up before I had made a decision, so he met up with me in one of the stores and convinced me to splurge and buy the bag I was eyeballing.

I wanted to, but I already had a Disney Dooney and Bourke purse. Did I really need another?

My husband, the intelligent man that he is, rationaled the purchase.

I need something to carry all our passports and paperwork in while we flew the following week.

What better way to do that than to have all those documents close to the hip in a letter carrier purse?

Fair enough.

So, I bought myself this beauty:

517488

And I gotta say, it’s been one of my favorite Disney purchases of all time. In the first few weeks I was here, I was homesick a lot and seeing the purse in our hotel room brightened my day. It was something that screamed Florida and Disney to me, and made my old home not seem so far away. Now, I’m kind of known for the bag. I’m: “The one with Disney bag” in any group. It’s started so many conversations with people here about the parks, and even opened the door for me to meet one of my great friends. She’s a huge Disney fan like all of us, and when she saw my big she knew she was in the right company.

Back in Florida, seeing a Disney bag wasn’t that uncommon. I ran into people with Disney accessories quite frequently, but over here it’s a lot more unique. It’s kind of become my signature.

I love it.

Alex and I were in the park for just under two hours before we needed to get on the road. While it was only a 6 hour drive to my parent’s house, we were attempting the feat at 2 o’clock in the afternoon. That meant we really messed with the kids’ schedules, because they took late naps and unloaded from the car after dinnertime. It wasn’t the best way to go about the car trip, but in the end we made it home safe and sound and that’s all that mattered.

Then, seven days later, we hopped aboard a plane and began our journey to Germany!

Our April trip seemed scattered and disjointed on the surface, but in all actuality it was perfect. We got a day in the Magic Kingdom, creating magical memories with Landon and Evie. We scored two action-packed and rare days at Universal Studios, and we won a few extra hours in Hollywood Studios as a cherry on top of our vacation dessert.

It was perfect.

Whew! I’m Disney World-ed out!

Thank you all for following along and reading this last report! I dreaded recounting the issues we had in February, but even with that mess, it was fun to step back into the Disney universe and put myself back on Main St. U.S.A.

Soon, I’ll start my Disneyland Paris trip report and when I do, I’ll be sure and post a link to it here. It was a very different Disney trip than I was used to, and I can’t wait to share it with you all!

Loved reading about your latest adventure! Nice your Universal time went so well. I'm sure your personal tour guides helped you get the most out of your time. Glad your DH's headache didn't completely derail your last day. How cute your DS knew Doc - such cute character pictures. I'll be watching for your next TR!

Thanks so much for sharing your trips with us! This was the first of your reports I followed and I really enjoyed it and was glad to have the chance to start getting to know you and your family. Can't wait to hear about you DL Paris trip! And I hope you have an amazing May trip!

Oh man, migrane ... that is not fun. I'm glad the medication helped a bit and Alex was feeling better later in the morning! I love the idea of going to Disney for food (and Jake the Pirate) ... because why not??
I love that Jake spent so much time with Landon. That's always a fun thing, especially when it's a favorite character. Sometimes the characters are just really good at knowing when to make the extra effort. And I love that Doc McStuffins went from being a character that you didn't think Landon knew to his new favorite. Who knew a small M&G could be such a big idea?

That Dooney letter carrier is adorable! And I love that it helped you make a new friend ... it's always nice to find someone in an unfamiliar setting who shares your love of Disney.

Thanks for sharing your trips with us. It's so amazing that you had such a perfect April vacation (especially after the February disaster) - it was like a perfect send off before you left for Germany.
I'm excited to read about your trip to DLP - that's one place I'll probably never get to go, so I'm really interested to hear all about your experience there!

Fingers crossed Landon hits the 40" mark. We're at Mk until our dinner ADR at 'Ohana's @ 9:20. We may take a mid day break but we have a FP for Seven Dwarfs Mine @ 8. We plan on staying at Epcot to see Illuminations. My Via Napoli reservation isn't until the 26th. I'm on social media. I'm on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter (only because the school posts updates there). I'll sent the PM.

Oh no!

I thought for sure we were about to be in for Round 2 of the stomach bug.

That's what was crossing my mind.

As it turned out, he had gotten a migraine.

Better than having the stomach bug, but still not good.

Despite the migraine, despite how late it already was, and despite the fact that we were all mentally tired, Alex persuaded me to go to a Disney park for an hour or so.

Got to have priorities.

And a family had to eat. Why not get some food at Disney?

I like they way your family thinks.

Landon was meeting Jake from Jake and the Neverland Pirates!

He looks so trilled to meet him.

The kid is now OBSESSED with Doc McStuffins. He had a Doc-themed birthday, he collects Doc toys, plays doctor all the time, and talks about the characters non-stop. If we had known that show was going to be such a big part of his life, we would have paid more attention to that meet!

He has a great idol. It this influences him to be a doctor someday even better.

So, I bought myself this beauty:

I love it !

It’s kind of become my signature.

What better signature than Disney lover?

Whew! I’m Disney World-ed out!

That didn't last long.

DLP was a different experience. Some things I found I enjoyed more than at WDW, others were not so great...But I'm really happy I was able to get the opportunity to check the parks out and experience them.

I want to say we have a princess FP around 8pm, so we should be in the Fantasyland area around then. Not sure if we're staying for IllumiNations or not. If I can get the kiddos to sleep at a reasonable time back at Shades, then I'm going to sneak over to the MK for Extra Magic Hours that night. Fingers crossed the two little ones cooperate for me!

Loved your TR!!!!!

Thank you for following along and reading! I appreciate it!

I like how you think. Extra time in MK is always good.

What a grand finale to your trip! Love that Landon not only met his idol but that he educated his mum and dad too. Priceless photos and memories made.
Great send off for your big adventure. Love the bag and that it's your signature look :)

Can't wait to hear all about your new adventures and very happy for you to have a trip home n the pipeline. You'll have no problem traveling with those wee dotes as you sound super organized and most people are kinder than expected. I love that your new neighbours are proving just that too :) :)

Nice way to end a trip! I love that you had some very nice Meet and Greets on top of an otherwise great way to top off your trip. Love you purse. Never have taken the plunge of buying one for myself, but would sure love to someday. :)

I have a favor to ask... when you start your Paris TR, please send me a PM. Probably the best way to let me know; I'm notorious for missing newly started ones.

Great wrap up, my friend!

Jake tends to be pretty great, in our experience. :thumbsup2

Ha, that's cute. Maybe the meet ignited his love. Perhaps if you'd met Sofia instead, he'd be obsessed with her show. :confused3

Just read through the rest of the TR, loved the time you spent at Universal and how much you loved the harry potter stuff! How nice to have some toddler free time too! Your final 2 nights at Disney cancelled?! LOL how crazy! But i understand that since you were leaving the country and all. Such cute character interaction at DHS <3

I get that Universal doesn’t see as many kids as Disney, but this really surprised me. It was as if babies were a rare occurrence and even then it almost felt like the room was a legal checkpoint. As in, “Here’s our baby room JUST IN CASE someone needs it.”
Yikes... makes me glad we chose to leave Universal out of our plans this summer... especially with an 11 month old who currently still nurses, because he will only drink 1 - 3 ounces of fluid at most per day from a cup.

Like every little boy on the boards, Landon was excited to go on the train. Any form of transportation is a win in his book.
It still is.
::yes::

They kept asking her to stop.

She was embarrassing them. She was embarrassing herself. She was being ridiculous.

I managed to catch that she was a 5th grade teacher and was taking photos in order to decorate her class next year in Harry Potter theme, and she wasn’t having any of her grandkids’ nonsense.
When they told her, “Magic’s not real you know. We’re kids and we know that.”
Her response was a smile, a shrug, and a “I believe in magic. I’m sorry you don’t. Maybe one day you will.”
:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao: That's awesome!

Eventually, it was our turn to board. The interior where the hallway and all the cars are was very dark so I put away the camera.
I just had my phone in my hand and was chastised by a TM that pictures aren't allowed. I'm surprised you weren't harassed for just carrying a camera.

I’m starting to sound like a broken record here, but Universal did a spectacular job with the theming in its Harry Potter areas.
::yes:: As a non-Potter fan, I appreciate it.

Nobody outright said it, but I think all of us were thinking that the day had gone better than anyone could have ever expected. I have no doubt Leslie and Eddie were prepared for us to take over and not listen to their advice. And honestly, there was a tiny part of Alex and I that were afraid we would do that too.
I can relate to how you felt. Because I've got to admit. When I got to the part of the TR when you said you were going to defer to their experience with Universal and let them be the guides... then you said they like to get a later start, it made me cringe and got my blood pressure up a little bit and I wasn't even there... I was just reading about it! :rotfl2: I'm glad it all worked out to be such an enjoyable day though.

This kind of sums up my family pretty well. Landon’s always acting silly, and Evie is forever shooting someone a dirty look.

Not much has changed in that regard…
:thumbsup2 Real family pictures are the best kind.

As we were walking away, I remember I pulled my sister in-law aside and thanked her for taking so many pictures for me. You guys are all too aware that usually one parent is not in photographs because they are usually the ones taking them. Unless you have Photopass at Disney or are brave enough to talk to a random stranger and ask a favor of them, your pictures aren’t all complete. But Leslie had been fantastic all day, reminding us to grab photos together and really making us feel like we had our own personal VIP tour guides.

Seriously.

No need for maps, people snapshotting those special moments, and always having someone tell us little tidbits of information…it was invaluable.
That's great! I'm glad you had that quality time with them and they seem to have really made a solid effort to show you all a good time and make sure you enjoyed everything.

When my father in-law was here visiting he came up to me one morning and asked, “So what’s with the decorative chopsticks on the wall?”

So now that’s what I refer to them as, much to Alex’s irritation…
:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

Honestly, I watched the movies just to get a better sense of what they did there. And I couldn't tell you the difference from one wand to the next.

“Um, yes, guys, the baby room is off to the right here. One of you will need to take the kids that way while the rest return to the line here.”

The guy said this to me like I wouldn’t understand basic rules. Luckily, Alex managed to casually reply with, “Well, if someone was working here like I assume they are supposed to be, they would have been able to tell us that.”
Well done Alex. Somebody had to call them out for their failure. Especially if they want to cast the blame on you.

He was very upset that he got to watch other people ride and not him, and this only became more cruel when Alex and Eddie met up with us and Leslie and I got to leave. Landon had to watch as we waited in line, boarded a car, and then headed off through a tunnel.

Poor kid just didn’t understand why he wasn’t getting to ride ANYTHING. He was hot, frustrated, and becoming very hungry.
Totally understandable... poor guy.

And this ride is a prime example of why Universal isn't family friendly at all. Let's be honest, the only reason there's a height restriction on that ride is because of the ride design... the way the cars and seats are set up. They could change those cars into something that is more fully enclosed that you could sit a child in next to an adult safely and it wouldn't take a thing away from the ride at all. Yet they don't because Universal doesn't care.

My hangry level was returning. And I was feeling a tiny bit guilty over Landon’s predicament. The poor guy did not get on a single ride and was forced to sit in his stroller while the adults walked through shop after shop.

Not a very fun day for a 3 year old.
Not fun at all. But it seems like he handled everything really well, which says a lot.

I don’t remember much from the dinner except we all ordered burgers and I devoured mine. Usually, I’m one of the last to finish my meal at the table, but this time I was first. I barely tasted it.
Your hangry really was kicking in!

I also remember our server had some issues. She forgot everyone’s subsitutions and messed up the discounts on the checks, but after we were finished with the meal she told us that it was only her second day working there. So, we cut her some slack.
That stinks, but you kind of have to feel for her. As long as it really was her second day and she wasn't just feeding you a line to make sure she didn't get stiffed on the tip. :rotfl:

Dinner complete, Alex and I took the kids back to the room and got them ready for bed. Eddie and Leslie ran out to a local Italian ice shop they really enjoy and brought back two desserts for us.
That's full service tour guide stuff right there.

Of my 12 trips to Walt Disney World with Alex, 4 of them have been during the month of May. There’s something about experiencing the Flower and Garden Festival, the warm weather, and the lack of summer crowds that makes me happy.
I wouldn't know about that... May's a bad time but I wish I could do it!

I love that time of year so much, that’s I’m going back this year.

Wait, what?!
 :faint:

AWESOME!!!! :dancer:

You read that right. Most of you guys already saw my blog post on social media explaining in detail my reasoning behind my trip, but I’ll go ahead and give a condensed version here, as well.
Yeah... I should probably follow that because I do a crappy job following the DIS. I haven't seen much of Alex on the Disdads Facebook lately... either that or it gets buried and I miss his posts.

The kids and I are going back to the states for 3 weeks.

I am actually going to fly internationally by myself with two toddlers.
Well, you did just say in a previous update about how great it is to fly with Landon... :rolleyes1

Well, as a lot of you guys know, my family lives in one part of Florida and my in-laws live in another. What better way to Segway between the two families than with a stop in the middle at Disney?
I can't argue with that logic!

My mom and I will be going to Disney May 21st through May 26th.

I can’t believe I’m going back to Disney. It’s like a dream.

Landon’s at 39.5 inches with shoes right now, so I’m hoping and hoping he grows that final half an inch and I can take him on Thunder and Soarin’.
This should be incredible! Here's hoping he gets that half inch! Maybe you'll get that awesome CM that told us DD was tall enough for BTMRR when she was measuring about 39.5 at home.

Evie already has a passion for animals that I can’t wait to foster at Animal Kingdom.
You're going to miss Pandora by a day, right? Oh well, it's still going to be an awesome trip and I know you'll enjoy it.

The tickets now come with a 5 day option, which is fantastic. It means we get an extra day at Disney!
That's always a great thing!

It was a win-win all around. Landon would have a billion times more fun exploring Cabana Bay than he would spending another day watching everyone go on rides. Alex and I would get a break from the toddler. My siblings would have more of our attention, and my mother in-law would get some one on one time with her grandson.
Perfect!

I said goodbye to Landon, showed my mother inlaw where all his things were, and rushed out of the room. We had more Universal to explore! In our haste to leave, though, we had forgotten our bottle of sunscreen.
Because you don't look like you'd burn at all... :rolleyes1

So we bought a bottle from the little shop right next to the security checkpoint.

It cost 12 dollars.

12 DOLLARS!!!
You need it, we got it. But it's gonna cost you.

You better believe Alex and I found a place in our suitcase to take that bottle with us to Germany. That sucker was gold.

(
And guess how much we had to use it last summer? NONE.)
:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

The wait for it was substantial, but we ran into the same incident as at Forbidden Journey. The Team Member at the entrance let us go through a separate line and told us she’d radio her coworker at the end to clear us.
Ok, maybe don't take toddlers to Universal, but if you can strap a baby onto your chest, you get the gold pass.

When we were sent into the waiting room, we all began the crisscross game of taking turns riding the attraction. I want to say it went: Leslie and me, Alex and Leslie, and then Leslie, me and Alex. I really enjoyed the Mummy. I thought it was a good mixture of storytelling and thrill. A bit more intense than Thunder Mountain but not as coaster as Rock N Roller Coaster. It is definitely one I’d go on in again should I ever return.
The Mummy's a great ride. I'm glad you had a chance to ride it!

It was finally time to try out Escape from Gringotts. I was a little hesitant to go on it after the Forbidden Journey trouble. We once again had amazing luck and were sent through a second line. Guests in the queue were a lot more vocal this time around about the unfairness of it. The wait time was at 90 minutes and you could tell people were getting impatient.

Sorry, guys. We didn’t force our way into the line. This is where the Team Member directed us.
It's that baby gold pass working for you.

That meant, in the two days we were there, Alex and I tried regular butterbeer, frozen butterbeer, butterbeer ice cream, and butterbeer fudge. I think we did pretty well.
So tell me again... did you like the butterbeer?

Dinner accomplished and back in our room, Alex tried calling Disney back. He was on hold for an hour before getting through to an operator.

Turns out…free dining had been released that morning.
Oh yeah... and I recall the free dining last year being extra crazy.

Alex and I woke up around 6 a.m. I got up and started getting dressed, and I happened to look over at Alex. He looked like death. Pale, bloodshot eyes, haggard…the whole nine yards.

I thought for sure we were about to be in for Round 2 of the stomach bug.
oh no...

Sucks that you had to deal with all that and a condescending CM but I'm glad you worked it out.

Whatever the cause, I'm just glad he recovered and rallied back.

I can't argue with a perfect plan.

I'm a Star Wars fan and I think Launch Bay is overrated.

The meet was everything we hoped it would be and more. Alex and I were a little disappointed we weren’t spending our last Disney afternoon in a more classic park like Epcot, but after we saw Landon’s face light up when he got to Jake, being in our least favorite park didn’t matter.
Well worth it, especially after making him endure Universal.

The kid is now OBSESSED with Doc McStuffins. He had a Doc-themed birthday, he collects Doc toys, plays doctor all the time, and talks about the characters non-stop. If we had known that show was going to be such a big part of his life, we would have paid more attention to that meet!
Well... how about that. Did the fandom and obsession start that day?

It’s started so many conversations with people here about the parks, and even opened the door for me to meet one of my great friends. She’s a huge Disney fan like all of us, and when she saw my big she knew she was in the right company.
I'm glad it was such a big hit and gained you such a prestigious reputation. So have you been asked to help others plan Disneyland Paris trips?

I hope your trip "home" is a good one! Enjoy your time with the Mouse and with family!

UGH on Alex feeling lousy on your last Orlando morning! I guess it is better it was a migraine that improved with some food and medicine than a stomach bug that would not have been fun. That is fantastic that you were able to grab a quick meal at HS and that Landon had two memorable and meaningful meets.

Admittedly, I am not a purse person, but your Mother's Day purchase (Happy Mother's Day, BTW) is so practical and absolutely adorable. I love that it has been an ice breaker and conversation starter for you in Germany.

Wishing you all the best for your upcoming trip "home"

:grouphug:

I have been embarrassingly behind on everyone's TRs, but I finally got all caught up on yours!

I totally and completely understand your reaction to Hogsmeade. As a Potter fan, it's INCREDIBLE seeing the world you have read about and seen in movies come to life around you. The theming in both WWoHP areas is breathtaking. Reading about all of your Universal time has me even more excited for our upcoming trip! I feel the frustration on having a little one that isn't quite tall enough to do much yet, but who is old enough to realize he is missing out on a lot. That's how our first experience at Universal with DS was as well. Lucky for you, MIL to the rescue for day two!!

I'm not sure about the separate lines at the HP attractions. I don't think we ever did that, but then again, we pretty much exclusively rode during early entry when the lines were super short so we stayed with the standby line and did single rider if we went on later in the day. Who knows?! But people need to chill!!

What a bummer that Alex got sick right at the end of your trip, but I'm glad he was feeling better enough to sneak in a few more hours of Disney. I can think of several times my husband has also talked me into something similar when we had mutually decided we were done. lol

Thanks for sharing your mini re-do trip! So excited for you that you are getting to spend some more time with your family and at Disney coming up soon. I will pray for your sanity on your long flight with the kiddos, and I hope they cooperate for you!!!

Who would have guessed that Landon meeting Doc would lead to a new character obsession? Here in the last month or so, he's started to branch out and watch Disney movies, and I've been enjoying introducing him to some characters he's only known from Disney attractions. (Ariel, Tinkerbell, etc.)

It took me a long, long time to make the splurge and buy an expensive purse. However, I'm not really a jewelry kind of person (90% of the time I forget to wear my wedding bands) so my husband knew a bag would be a better "big ticket" gift for me rather than a necklace or something.

Will do...whenever I get around to writing the thing!

Wow, super annoying! :headache:

Jake tends to be pretty great, in our experience. :thumbsup2

:rotfl: Commercials are a powerful thing...at least on Disney Junior. :rotfl:

Ha, that's cute. Maybe the meet ignited his love. Perhaps if you'd met Sofia instead, he'd be obsessed with her show. :confused3

That's pretty neat - and especially that you met a Disney-loving friend because of it. :thumbsup2

I can't wait to hear all about it! :hyper:

Thanks for another great report! :goodvibes

You're right, Jake is usually pretty good.

Since we only watch the Disney Jr. shows we purchased or the ones on Netflix now, Landon doesn't get to see commercials anymore, so the other day when he saw an Elena toy, he was like, "Who is that?!" He's so out of loop!

For some reason, Sofia just doesn't hold Landon's attention...
