I was just on the phone with WDTC and I forgot not to give my name and zip to them. Anyway the CM noticed that I had 2 ressies overlapping each other. One was at a deluxe for the last 3 days of our stay. We hope that we can stay there, but I don't want to cancel the last 3 nights on the original ressie because I like having a back up plan. I know that I will have to choose and as our trip gets closer I plan to. I just don't know what can happen between now and then. We may not be able to afford the deluxe. I thought I was just being careful. He made it seem like I am out to hog all the rooms at WDW. I know I have read post where people had up to 4 ressies at once and they were deciding which to keep. He was the rudest person I have ever talked to on the phone in my entire life. I wanted to hang up on him but I wasn'r going to lower myself to his standard.

I've been thinking since the call that maybe he was having a bad day. It was without a doubt the most UNDISNEY MOMMENT of my life. I have made 100s of calls to CRO and never been treated like a crimminal.

Hi adisneynut!

I would be willing to bet that the majority of reservation holders have rooms reserved at two different resorts. You obviously reached a CM with an ax to grind and a chip on his shoulder. Walt would not be proud. :(

Keep you ressies! Take your time and decide which room is best for you and your family, and which fits into your budget. And, happy planning :)

I appreicate your reply. Now I do feel somewhat better. I just called back and got Summer at WDTC and she was just a wonderful person. She was warm, freindly and helpful. :D

Thanks again for your kind words and the encouragement. :)

Oh, adisneynut, I am so glad you called back and found a wonderful, helpful CM like Summer! People like Summer are such a blessing in life. :)

Thanks for sharing! We really do understand.

Just thought I'd take a moment to let you know my experience with CRO. When I was planning our Dec'00 trip, I called to ask about a couple different possibilities on the same call & the CM I had on the phone actually encouraged me to hold the 2 that she knew I was waffling between, so I did (of course we ended up staying off-site, oh well). I'm sure this isn't policy. I just thought this may make you feel better. I really believe its all about who answers your call. I've been known to get a response from a CM & if I don't like the attitude they gave me their answer will, hang up the phone & keep calling 'til I get someone I like.

Thanks for sharing your GOOD experience with CRO. I was wondering if I could sleep tonight. I'm basically a nice person with a sunny outlook on life. You have both made me feel justified in keeping both ressies. Now I know that there are others in my boat. ;)

One more reason I love this boards, the great members. :D

I just want to add this:

I, also was told to hold on to my other reservations. I also said I was not sure how many days I was going to stay, and I was told I could cancel later. As a matter of fact when she looked up my name she saw about 4 reservations - she just giggled. It was funny actually

Don't worry about that guy he was just being obnoxious. It happens even in the wonderful world of Disney -unfortunately.

I also have had double reservations....and never will again. I found 2 things.

1) If you use a code or discount & cancell that code or discount is not put back into the system for the next person.

2) I can not get a room over Easter break ...I wonder how many people have double reservations?

I can't believe he was so rude to you and it is unfortunate to come across such people when making your vacation plans. I'm glad to hear that everything worked out. One note however, is I don't work for the travel industry but do work with them for my job and I know we are not allowed to double book not because of them but b/c of the computer system for the airline/resort/etc. can sometimes cancel one of the reservations b/c it is not programmed to have more than one for the same person. It doesn't sound like your situation (not sure) but just food for thought.

Good luck with your decision!

Makmom, If the reason that you can't get a reservation over Easter is truly because people have multiple reservations than no need to worry, plenty should open up when they cancel! (No, I'm not one of those people, but I understand why someone would make multiple ressies and don't have a problem with it).

I know they will open up but it will be to late for me...we made other plans. Making traveling plans at the last min to Disney when you fly is not easy unless money is no object. I did try to talk hubby into driving down if we could get a room at the final hour for cancellations.

None of the CM as ever said anything to me, but I often hold more than reservation. Out of consideration for others I do try to cancel them as soon as I make my mind up. But last year I canceled too soon, not at Disney but at the Hard Rock. I had a great rate but we thought we'd go to Disney a day sooner so I cancelled one day. Of course, then we changed our minds and I couldn't even get the day I had cancelled back at a higher rate. It all worked out in the end, but I will be sure of my plans before I cancel any reservations in the future.

Sorry!
Adisneynut, I wonder if we spoke to the same CM? I didn’t get his name because he didn’t say it, just hello. I even had to ask if it was WDTC.
I was treated like an idiot for wanting to stay at three hotels in two weeks. He must have said “ You DO realize that’s $200 per hotel, don’t you? That’s $600!!!” six or more times. And he didn’t ask any of the questions CMs normally ask. In the end I said I'd have to call back. I can cope with rudeness but not with inefficiency. I just didn’t trust him!

To those of you who don't have a problem with holding multiple reservations at one time:

I would have to say it is extremely rude, inconsiderate, and selfish to hold concurrent reservations when you have no intention of using both rooms. What about other people who are not able to get a room because you and many others have locked up 2 rooms. "I'm sorry little Susie, we can't go to WDW this year, there are no rooms available. Maybe next year." Can you imagine? And if you justify your actions by saying there are plenty of rooms available, why, then, do you need to make double reservations?

I hope you don't have children. What a terrible example this is to set. There are other people in the world besides YOU.

And please don't retort: "Well everybody does it". You know what follows that.

Very disappointed,
Corndog

Who knows maybe we did. I do however know the name of the CM I talked to. I wouldn't want to deal with such a person again.

I plan to call back today and make sure everything is booked like it should be. Now that you have me thinking about inefficiency.;)

I can't speak for everyone but as for myself, I plan to cancel 1 of my reservations whenever we are sure.

When I'm going there is still plenty of rooms to be had. At least there has been every time I have called to check on the different codes rates.

People often make reservation and have to cancel.

There have been times when I wanted to add an extra night to my stay that were not available but at a later time they were.

How is the view up there on the really tall horse that you have?
Yes I have children. They enjoy their lessons in contingency planning.

Corndog, While I have not double booked at Disney, I have elsewhere to make sure we got a reservations at the very popular school vacation weeks. I also have children and like Toby's friend, hope I am teaching them to be smart planners and that the early bird gets the worm, or room as the case may be.

Don't forget we can all benefit from last minute cancellations too, there are entire businesses (moments-notice.com, lastminutevactions.com, etc), devoted to offering great deals on recently freed up vacations and hotel rooms. I know I've gotten some great deals that way, and I just want to thank those of you who cancelled last minute so I could get a great deal on a last minute trip!

Toby and Cforza- I couldn't have said it better myself.

I didn't mean to stir up any trouble when I started this thread.
