I know I've seen these a million times...but i just can't help asking!! We just got back from our first ever trip to WDW the last 2 weeks of May. I want to plan my next WDW vacation but won't be able to go in spring anymore....so i'm wondering if the last 2 weeks of Aug would be the least crowded over summer. Thanks for any input!!

I've not been yet in the last weeks of August, but I'll be going that time this year (nearing low double digits!)...I've seen a lot of response to this question by others who've gone then, and nearly all of them are raves about the (relatively) small crowds during that time. Because many Florida schools (and several other states, for that matter) start back in mid-to-late August, the impact of locals at the parks is greatly reduced.

Things to consider for this year are the Fairytale Package (which so far I believe hasn't had as horrendous an impact on crowds as many thought it would) and the fact that overseas travel numbers have not yet rebounded, and I'd suggest that for this year at least it should be pretty comfy at the parks leading up to Labor Day.

I'd love to hear what others who've gone late August before have to say in response too.

Well, I have been in late August, but not specifically in the parks.
I have for the past two years, gone to USF/IOA, Seaworld, Discovery Cove the last two weeks of August.

Although those parks could not compare attendance wise.. (well USF/IOA may be able to compare)

I can say a few things...

1) Schools in the area are in session.

2) There were many overseas guests that time.. In fact Seaworld had a British Invasion thing... Many people from the United Kingdom.

3) Did do DTD, monorail, chef Mickeys, Minituare golf and some other things.

It did not look too bad Yes, with the FTP, will it be bad? I don't know. We do get up early as a family, and do the EMH, and then leave... so to us, if you get there early, its half the battle.

We've always gone in August so that we wouldn't have to pull the kids out of school. Always the last week of August is light with crowds. Most of the time we've had no waits in lines, I mean minimal 10 minutes or so. In Epcot I can always remember walking directly onto Spaceship Earth no line at all, CM's standing there waiting to escort you into the ride.

We went in June last year and I would choose August 100 times over. June was extrememly rainy, August showers in the late afternoon, almost welcome to cool you down.

We are headed down again this August on the 23rd.

For the past 4 years we have been at WDW the last week of August. The crowds will vary. Most years lines were 10 - 15 minutes at most. One thing though you must deal with is the heat. It's hot. When we are at WDW I always say to my family, I would love to be here when it's cool. However, the lines are short and usually the last week of August rooms are cheaper.
Drink plenty of fliuds, leave the parks by 1pm at the lastest, and pack lots of extra underwear.
