Can u believe this guy at L.C.??? Really?!

I'm not condoning the man's behavior (and I wasn't there so I don't know) but many places offer a dessert or something if it is a special occasion. Sometimes if you don't ask, you don't get it (and you could have). And the worst that can happen when you ask for something is that they say 'no'.

I'm not saying the man's behavior was something I would teach my kids, but try to take a deep breath when these things happen, be a little extra nice to the waiter/waitress, and don't let other people damper your trip.

Based upon the OPs description, I think it had less to do with THAT he asked, but HOW he asked. I don't think there's anything wrong with saying something like, "We're celebrating a birthday tonight. Do y'all do anything special for birthdays?" or whatever. But the way the guy all-but demanded special attention was offensive.

Just my opinion.

As a waitress/bartender I deal with entitled people are the time and more than that RUDE A*****..

A couple of weeks ago I was waitressing in a second of my restaurant that has the bar, however, the tables are NOT part of the bar.. A bunch of guys just sat down at my table.. I nicely went over to them and explained this is NOT a bar table.. They looked at me and continued to sit there.. And as much as I wanted to go over there and give them a piece of my mind.. That is not apporpriate.. I went back over to them.. and said is there anything that I can get you( because they were sitting at the table but had gotten their beers from the bar).. The guy looks at me and says " yeah, get me some wings and while you are at it get me another beer".. Seriously????? They sat in my table for 2 hours.. Got up without taking the check , and sat at the bar.. I brought the $10 check over to him and he glady responded with giving me a $2 tip...

I waited tables for years, and people did this all the time. It would be a party of 10, and it was everyones birthday. A free ice cream wasn't good enough. "oh I don't want an ice cream, I want an 8 dollar desert for free", um no. You wouldn't believe what kind of free things people would ask for. "we were out of town when you were having you dining promotion, we would like it today". I swear, the nerve of some people.

Having worked in the hospitality field for several years, this guy's behavior is nothing surprising to me. When I worked at the front desk of a hotel, I would have people coming to check in all the time, demanding this and demanding that. No matter what you do for them, they always want more, more, more. Now, don't get me wrong, when they were actually half-way polite about it, I would give the guests celebrating something complementary upgrades to our largest suites if we had them available. But there were those certain guests that would say that same thing - "It's my anniversary/wife's birthday/my birthday, I want an upgraded suite/free dinner/free wine/free room service." Of course, you attract more flies with honey than vinegar, but they never seemed to get it. Of course we "unfortunately did not have any suites available at that time...":rolleyes1
