Can this strategy still work in June 2015?

So it's been a few years since we have been. I am fast approaching my 180 day ADR window, and we are not a park hopper family. It will be me, DH, 9 year old DS, and 2.75 year old twins staying at AoA (we have a car or we can use Disney bus)

Anyhow...Looking at easywdw...I seem to want to visit parks on the wrong days mostly because I think AM EMH will work well for our family in June...

Basically, we are not parade or firework people. I just hate the crowds of parades (and standing for 2 hours in that heat for a parade is just not for me) and fireworks are mostly too loud and too late for our family just yet.

For the most part, we will use AM EMH or a pre-rope drop ADR and then make good use of those couple of morning hours. Use 1-2 FP+ mid-morning. Have an early lunch. Then maybe 1-2 of our FP+ after lunch. Then we leave the park and don't return. (We have most dinners at Resorts or DTD).

I think we need to get our touring done before the heat is oppressive. But will we just be in a sea of people all the time by going to the "not recommended parks"?

I also understand we won't get everything done with partial days, but we've always done partial days, and this time we have three 1/2 days in Epcot, 3 1/2 days in MK, 2 1/2 days in DHS, and a 1/2 day in AK (we are there 8 nights)

Sounds liked our know you your own family's schedule well and have a good plan. I think the suggestion to avoid EMH parks is more for guests who aren't eligible for the extra hour or who don't make full use of it, putting them in a somewhat more crowded park for no reason. Your plan and FP+ timing sounds perfect if you're early people and won't make it back to the parks for evenings.

We go to the AM EMH park all of the time during the summer, but we get there at RD. You'll be fine. I think they only get crowded later in the day. However, having only gone during the busy summer months, I haven't really noticed the afternoons being that much more crowded at an AM EMH park. Maybe I'm just used to crowds at WDW.

Funny, we have almost an identical family make up! My oldest is also 6.5 years older then my twins! We are doing our first family trip next August (twins will be 5), kudos to you for being brave enough to do Disney with twin toddlers! And since I'm sure they are early risers like mine, your plan sounds perfect. Get in early, get everything you want done checked off the list and be out by dinner. Have a great trip!

The biggest problem you will have with this strategy will be crowds after like 11 am. You would do much better in more recommended parks from say 11 am thru the evening hours, BUT it's a trade off.

If you are willing to hit it early and efficient, then take it slow and see shows, relax, head back to resort, etc. then the heavier mid day crowds won't be that much of an issue.

The only other thing to keep in mind is the heat is exhausting. Meaning you are planning to hit the parks for am. EMH, which means an hour less sleep, when you are more active than normal in pretty fatiguing conditions. It will be imperative to drink tons of water on your trip to help ease in recovery. I would aim for your body weight in ounces of water a day (and avoid sodas and sugary drinks if possible)...150lbs = 150 oz of water a day.

You don't say which week of June you're going. We have gone twice the 1st week of June and crowds were pretty light and weather was mild. One year we went the last week of June and crowds were much heavier and the heat was worse. If we're going in June, we try to go early June. But either way I hope you and your family have a great trip!

We've visited several times in June. It can get hot some days, but last year we actually wore sweatshirts a couple of windy evenings when the temps dropped into the 60's.

I think your kids would love the afternoon parade, and it should take nowhere a 2 hour time commitment. There are lots of shady spots in the Frontierland area that don't often fill up until just before the parade arrives. We like the area around Country Bear Hall.

And who knows, your gang may be up for fireworks as well. I find it much easier to let mine stay up late than to make them get up early.

It is actually a great age gap. We are only now starting to have a little bit of jealousy issues or boredom issues, but mostly our older DS just loves them to pieces and helps entertain them a lot.

I was trying to get in a trip while the twins were still "free." Funny thing is that it is turning into our most expensive trip ever anyhow :lmao:

I am mostly planning to use a FP+ around 10-11 am, then head to lunch, maybe a FP+ after lunch, and then leave the parks.

I am planning for two evenings out. One will be going around World Showcase and the other will be Pirates and Pals cruise. And the next morning trying to sleep in.

I guess I am making sure that you can still get a good bit done without terrible waits between say 8-10 am using morning EMH

I am going to avoid evening EMH since we won't be taking advantage of them

We have been over 4th of July twice (2003 and 2011) and first week of June (2009), so I am used to busier and hotter times of year, but the boards are scaring me with the idea that attendance is up so much. I just have visions of waiting 90 minutes for the Tiki Room at 9am :lmao:

Yes you definitely can (it's what I'm planning on doing this June).
