Can this be true?

I just read somewhere that if you deduct people from your advanced dining reservations, you will have to cancel your old reservation and re-book a new one. That does not make sense! I am trying to plan for a group of 19. I am making all of the reservations, and then, if someone says they don't want to eat somewhere, I just planned on calling and reducing the number of people in my reservation. I plan to do this long before we go - not a few hours before or the same day - after all, it is 80-some days until we go.

But, if I stand a chance of losing my reservation, I have no incentive to call and reduce the number, do I? Please, someone tell me this is wrong.

Thanks!

That is what I experienced. They told me they cannot just add or take away a person from your AR, they must cancel it and re-book.

Good luck.

Is this a new policy? I was able to add without making a new PS on our trip in May. Then again, it used to called PS and not DR so that might be the difference but why would the policy change?
If you have to deduct and you means canceling the originial reservation, I wouldn't do it beforehand. Just tell the CM when you're checking in you have few less people.

Yes, this is true. In the computers, they only have slots for certain parties - if you are booked for a party of 6 (and with that a certain table size) and want to reduce to 4 (and another table size) they cancel out the table of 6 and rebook a table of 4. But if all the tables of 4 are taken, you're stuck without. If you show up with a PS for 6 but only have 4 people, you're taking up a larger table then needed (but many people do just that if they can't rebook it with a smaller size).

Don't cancel anything until you secure the smaller party size. If you're calling far enough out, you shouldn't have a problem with most restaurants, esp if you are willing to move your PS time a half hour or so from your original.

Ugh, this is not good. I've been making lots of ADR's for 4 people but now my DD may not be going, making it only three of us. Would it be bad just to show up and say we only have three instead of four?

That might not be a problem for our size, since a group of 3 has to be at a table for 4. I made some recently and the CM could look up the ressie and knew what table size I had been assigned. Yes I had to cancel and reschedule a few and others, since we were already in a 4/table we could add our 2 friends (we are a party of 2).

You should be fine. Just keep your ADRs for 4 since the tables are going to be 4tops anyway. Just say you only have 3 instead.

We did this several times thruout our trip due to BIL/BIL's GF, MIL/FIL coming, not coming, change plans, etc. Once we showed up with only 4 people for a 7person ADR. They just adjusted it and put us in the first available 4top table.

This happened to us as well....I finally got a CRT breakfast for 6...and then my mother decided she wanted to come with us. I called back and they would NOT include 1 additional person...and because it was CRT, I didn't dare cancel the original PS and try to rebook for 7.

Because of this, my mom didn't come on the trip. She really only wanted to see my DDs with the princesses, so she decided not to come this time and maybe come some other time.

Turns out...when we checked into CRT....they split our party of 6 and gave us 2 4tops. We had 2 extra chairs and my mom could have come!!

When I booked my ADR at Le Cellier a few days ago, they told me that they only had a 5pm time slot for a table of 2, I wanted 7pm, so the CM told me she would reserve us as a party of 3, therefore getting the 7pm ADR. Very strange, but she says she does it all the time. I asked her if the CM would be mad when we check in with only 2 people. She said it would be no problem. :cool1: :flower:
