Can tent be off of pad? (partially or completely)

When we come in September we will have our pop up, a separate tent and a screen tent. We will call the Fort with the dimensions of our equipment ahead of time and request a larger site in the 1500 loop, (we have always stayed in 1500 and love it there!) but if all of our stuff won't completely fit on the shell pad, are we permitted to let the tent be partially on the grassy area? Or maybe even set up the tent right next to the pad? Or have the pop up hanging over onto the driveway?
Thanks for your help!:goodvibes

Having the popup on the driveway is not an issue. I can not tell you what the "Rule" is for certain on the tent. I can tell you for certain that it is very common to see tents placed partially on the site, with much of it hanging off.

In fact many tents are setup way off of the site. I am not aware of anyone having to move a tent for doing this, but I suppose it depends largely on whether you are encroaching on a neighbor or not.

Thanks Tony! Sounds like plenty of people just do what they need to do and it all works out....I guess we'll do the same!

Jenny, how far in advance are you planning to call? The two times we've been to FW to tent camp (2006, 2010) we faxed our request a few days ahead of check in. Worked the first time, didn't the second. (We were there for a 12 night stay the second time though, so we figured we'd end up in 2000 anyway.) We love 1500 and plan to request it again this time, but I'm not sure if faxing is still the way to go or if a phone call will suffice, and if so, when that phone call should be made.

Thanks!

VP, I hadn't really thought that far! Guess I'd better do that soon! I've read on here the suggestion to let them know the dimensions of your setup, if you're concerned about the size, and they will put you where you need to be, but we haven't done that yet. In the past, we've asked to be in Loop 1500 when we made the reservation and they always put us there. One year, we asked for a particular site - I think it might have been 1508 - and they made note of the request but said they couldn't guarantee it for us. We did end up getting it though. It does make me feel better knowing that you're not necessarily limited to the exact dimensions of the pad though, as we have expanded our footprint with a screen tent! :)
