I've seen this konk kooler used a few times in here in the past few weeks, I hate to ask , but what is a konk kooler?

Thanks!

Kathy

You can't really explain it, you just have to experience it .....on Castaway Cay .....at the end of your cruise.......it's an inspirational mixed drink....at one time there was a recipe for it on this site.

It is a truly awesome drink. If you do not like alcohol you can get it without, but I like the alcohol version myself! It is a "dont miss" on CC. You must make sure you get Alyssa one of the virgin ones. My daughter loved it!

As the other posters have said, they're a wonderful concoction indeed!

I believe they have light and dark rum, passion fruit concentrate, some other fruit concentrates, hmmm.... Just lots of really yummy stuff, I guess!

Oh, OK, LOL, What a ditz I am... Here I thought this was some kind of "cooler" to carry stuff in, :p

Well this sounds wonderful! I will be sure to get Alyssa one and I think I may try one myself too! I am not a drinker but I dont mind one here and there...

I'm so embarrasssed now, sorry for being so stupid...

Kathy--

I think we all have our moments like this! I remember, on our last cruise in August, going up to the CM at Up Beat and asking to purchase a bottle of Chambord. Only, I pronounced it Cham broad. She just looked at me and smiled. Well, at least I learned how to say the word!

Here is my recipe for a konk kooler if you can't wait till your cruise....although being on Castaway Cay does make it taste better!:D

Konk Kooler

1/2 can of cream of coconut or one 12oz can frozen pina colada mix
3 ounces light rum
3 ounces dark rum
1/2 of a 12oz can frozen passion fruit juice concentrate(Welches)
4 oz of orange juice
2-3 cups of ice
Mix all together in a blender until very fine and smooth

Enjoy!

Wow!!. Thanks for the recipe perdidobay. I think a pre-cruise party may be in order. :D

I have made that same recipe at home and DH and I both thought that it tasted pretty close to the ones we had at CC. I just have to close my eyes and pretend there is a warm Caribbean breeze blowing through my hair. It doesn't work all that well, but the drink still tastes great!

LOL, eww is right, I'm in agreeance with DMS.... I don't care for coconut either...

Kathy

The recipe says 1/2 can of cream of coconut or one 12oz can frozen pina colada mix". If you don't like coconut, then just use the pina colada mix. If neither suits you, there are plenty of other interesting drinks to distract you on your cruise.

Unfortunately Pina Coladas have coconut in them too.

I'm sure of this Sandy, but everybody keeps talking about how good the Konk Koolers are, I guess I'll have to have DW get one and maybe just give it a little try ::yes::

What I really like are orange flavored drinks. Any suggestions?

For those of you who don't like coconut, I don't either, but I still loved the drink. I guess the coconut flavor wasn't very strong. It was really a good drink, so don't let the recipe scare you away.

I had no idea there was coconut in there! I hate coconut (pina coladas remind me of suntan lotion, ewww) and I would never have known. Maybe you can just leave it out?

Now I'm confused! Isn't it Conch Cooler? Conch like the shell. It's spelled "conch" but pronounced "konk" isn't it? But Cay is spelled "cay" and pronounced "key" so why not spell things however the heck you want!

Yeah Steph, I would assume too that it's Conch, like the shell, but since I haven't been yet, I thought maybe it was just a Disneyfied name. Anybody got any insight?

Marshmelo - good to know you can't taste that coco stuff :p

It is like conch, but they spell it Konk to be cute. Mine came in a plastic conch shaped holder.
