We are booked for free dining, 2 rooms at a value in Sept. BUT, DH and I work at the same hospital and there is a chance it can close come 9/1. So I started looking into cheaper alternatives, one being staying OFFSITE. I can find some 3bdr for like $90 per night with a private pool! Would my kids like this? We will have 10 days so plenty of time to do all of Disney

We are looking into WH, too. We are not going until Oct 2009, but I think it is the best deal for us.
With five of us going we need a little more room than a hotel room.

We found a place onsite here www.vacationcentralflorida.com

I would save the money and stay offsite.
(That way I can go to the Outlets and pick up some stuff)!

We've taken a look at it during one of our stays on Sunset Lakes because we read so much about it. It's not for us.

There is a mix of condo's / townhouses and vacation homes and potentially a lot of people on site. The day we were there the pool had at least 60 people in and around it and it felt very crowded.

WH also has a clubhouse with a small fitness room, a small theatre where they sometimes show a movie and a couple of pool tables. This isn't important to us and we certainly don't want 1000's of strangers in our vacation ...and that's how it felt.

The plus side is that it's convienient to Disney...about 5 mins from AK, but then so are several other vacation home communities such as Sunset Lakes, Rolling Hills, Indian Creek and Formosa Gardens.

So, each to his own and my own feeling is that if you haven't experienced a vacation home on a nice community before then this is adequate. Personally I like peace and quiet and this place doesn't give me that feeling.

I dont have any clue as I didnt even BOTHER to look outside.. my kids LOVE the water and we would prefer it a bit more private.. quieter I guess... we want an actual pool on property instead of having to go to a community pool or having a splash pool only.. there are 6 of us!

So is the 3br a single family home at Windor Hills? I thought (but might be wrong) that the smallest pool home at WH was a 4 bed. I thought you were talking about a Townhome with a splashpool.

I glanced quickly so maybe it is just a splash pool.. I got over 100 offers in my box!

We haven't been before, but we have booked at 3 bed condo near the main pool. With two little kids I thought it would be better to use the main pool than have to keep them away/asking about getting in the splash pool all the time.

Everything I have read, raves about the place/community and I have been quite comfortable with my decision to book.

The kids room is decorated with Mickey Mouse and looks fab. The people I have been dealing with seem very nice.

Have a great trip whatever you decide.

We have stayed twice in a TH - must admit we don't use the splash pool but have been to the community one a few times.

If you can book a 4br with private pool I'm sure it would be great:thumbsup2

I like WH - it has always been quiet & it is a gated community. We are going back at Christmas.

We've stayed at Windsor Hills 3 times: twice in townhouses and once in a 6 bedroom. The smallest pool home has 4 bedrooms. There are 3 bedroom townhouses with splash pools and two and three bedroom condos.
I've always found it very quiet. We've stayed there in Feb-Mar and also Nov and really like it. Didn't find it too crowded at all. You can pick out a movie and reserve the theatre at no cost. There is no cost to any of the clubhouse amenities.
We liked having the splash pool for the times when you just want a quick dip or at night when you get home from the parks and the main pool is closed. It also keeps the kids occupied while you're getting something ready to eat. You can see the splash pool from the kitchen and living rooms.

We just stayed at WH in a 2 BR Condo through www.vacationcentralflorida.com and loved it. We will definately use this group to rent from again when we return. The condo was clean, tastefully disney decorated, and quiet. I loved having the full kitchen and the washer/dryer. We also appreciated having the extra space to stretch out in and the screened in lanai. The community is gated and security was always on top of who was coming in. The week we were there the pool wasn't crowded and my DS or DH never had to wait long to use the pool slide. Never had to worry about finding a pool chair either. They applied the "deposit" to the rental fee so there was never any money in "limbo". The gentleman that owned the condo always answered my emails within a day or so and was very full of info. This was our first encounter with renting a condo and will not be our last, especially with this group of owners.:)

I just returned this past Saturday from WH 5 bedroom home. It was awesome; the house also included a pool. I highly recommend staying here if you wish to stay offsite. I was also very impressed with the closeness to Disney and Seaworld.
