I have been calling constantly for 1900 park fare for our first night on December 13th. I have managed to snag GF cafe for dinner this night.

Hoping someone can tell me what to expect for food quality and ambience at this restaurant.

We wanted to eat at the GF as it fits in our plans to tour the resorts this first night. Just hope we will be getting a meal and not snackish type food in a food court.

TIA for your opinions

We ate there for lunch on 11/16 and I liked the food. Dh, dd , and I all got the steak with mashed potatoes, and green beans (dd got corn.) Ds decided on the kids meal and got the beef macaroni dish (its not on the menu on allears.) Everything was awesome. For dessert I got the tiramasu and it was awesome (lick the plate good), dh got the chocolate mouse and loved it, dd got a mango creme brule (she is allergic to gluten so this is what the chef made for her, also not on the menu) and she said she loved it. I have pics of the desserts but I have to wait until dh gets hom he has the camera.

You definitely will not be disappointed from a food/ambiance/service perspective. I think the GFC and the Kona Cafe (at the Poly) are 2 of the hidden treasures of dining at WDW. This is not a 'snack' restaurant. Full meals of interesting and significantly better than average options with presentation and taste far superior to many of the other places there. Ambiance is very quaint and pleasant; lighter and brighter than Citrico's or Narcoosse's but perhaps not quite the same sense of intimacy as those 2 (that's a relative statement). We too ended up here one time by default when another restaurant we wanted wasn't available; we were equally hesitant/concerned what we might experience for dinner thinking it was primarily the GF's breakfast nook/sit-down burger & sandwich place. Boy, were we wrong. Our concerns were quickly laid to rest and we've been back several times of our own choosing (me, DW, DD8 and DD13). No characters there though (except when it subs for 1900PF during the latter's refurbs). Hope you enjoy it as we did!
