I need to know if there's any penalty involved in changing/canceling a reservation.

This a.m. I had my husband call and book the first night of an eight night trip to BWV in a standard room, Nov 1-9, 2003.

When I called my sister to check the exact departure date, she reminded me that she cannot check in at the YC until Nov. 2(value) as opposed to Nov 1(regular). We are staying offsite the first night - the night he just booked this a.m. I totally forgot.

We have a June use year. We will actually be borrowing the points for this trip from the June 04 use year.

My question is this - Can he just cancel the reservation he made this a.m. without a problem? What's involved? I thought I remembered something about using borrowed points.

Thanks for your help.

No problem with this at all. You can cancel and the points used will be returned to the 2003 use year.

As long as a reservation is cancelled 31 days or more in advance, the points used are returned to the contract, to be used for another reservation or banked- subject to normal banking deadlines. Borrowed points can't be banked, but can still be used before the end of the use year they were borrowed into.

If cancelled 30 days or less before, the points go into a holding account to be used for a reservation made within 60 days prior to arrival. These points can't be banked and will expire if not used by the end of that use year.

You should have no problems at all changing this reservation to your liking!

Enjoy!

Make sure they use the borrowed points first when you make the new reservation.

Thanks for the info. I'll be sure to tell him about using the borrowed points first.
