Can someone please explain to me.....

why poster contests require them to be 11 x 17? DD10 wants to enter the Woodsy Owl poster contest. Fine. The poster HAS to be 11x17. You can buy pre-cut 11x14 or the large size of 20 x 20 something but not 11x17. Now I have to buy a large sheet and cut it. No big deal.

Any clue as to why 11x17 and not 11x14?

I'm guessing because 11"x17" is a standard paper size? Not standard for poster board but standard for paper Maybe they are supposed to be drawing the posters on regular paper and not poster board? Honestly, I have no clue

It does just say 11x17 not 11x17 poster board. Maybe that's it. DOH!!!! I guess one doesn't always make a poster out of poster board.
