Can someone please explain these differences with WDW MYW passes

I know before I have asked if my family & I can transfer our 7 day MYW passes onto blank Resort ID cards & the majority of responses were, it can not be done for several reasons. However what I don't quite get is when I read posts about guests wanting to transfer tickets onto their Resort ID cards which they will be using, how is it any different then what my family & I want to do? I know if you purchase a package deal your passes are automatically put onto your Resort ID when you check in. So why is it that it's ok for guests to transfer their passes onto their Resort ID cards, but my family would not be able to transfer them onto blank Resort ID cards?

I was also wondering how come no one says to the guests who want to transfer their passes to their Resort ID cards, that the magnetic strip is not as good as the paper tickets? When I asked about transfering our tickets to a blank Resort ID card, I was told the magnetic strip is not great on the Resort ID cards. I mean weather we have our tickets on our Resort ID cards, or a blank Resort ID card it's the same type of plastic card, so where is the difference?

Why would you want to put them on a blank resort key card? My 'paper' APs have an average of 25 days use on them...I have had better luck with the magnetic strip on them then on my room keys.

It's because we have had problems in the past with the "paper tickets" & never any problems with the blank Resort ID cards. However the point of this thread is to find out, why I was told my family & I could not transfer them onto a blank Resort ID card, but it's ok to transfer them onto the Resort ID card you use for shopping & to enter your room? Yes I know my family & I can also do that, but we prefer to keep our Resort ID card & park tickets seperate from each other.

Can they be put on to room keycard stock that is not your room key? Yes they can.

Just remember, as people have said, they do tend to demagnitize easily. If they are on your room keys themselves, they are easier to replace. It takes a bit longer if they are just tickets on room key stock.

They can't do it because that's simply not how the cards are set up.

You cannot have a "blank" resort card. A resort ID card is either active for a room, or it is not. If it is active for a room, then other things can be put on it (tickets, charging privilges, etc.). If it is not active, it just can't suddenly be used for one of the ancillary uses.

In order for a Resort ID to work, it has to be an active room key.

Sorry to be blunt, but I think you are making this WAY more complicted than it needs to be. If you want two seperate items, you already have them. Just go with it. There are no more problems with the paper tickets than their are room keys - just because you had a bad experience before (whatever it may have been) doesn't mean it will happen again.

You simply cannot do what you are trying to do.

Just go, and have a good time!

Good luck,

Well I have a feeling the Atrium Concierge Cast Members will make an expection for us. Our current 7 day MYW passes which we purchased from them have 1 day left on them. At 1st they were going to put them onto our Resort ID card, we said can we please have them on a seperate card & they said sure thing that won't be a problem. So that is why we are going to ask them next month, if they can make this change for us. So yes we can have just our Resort ID card for making purchases & entering our room. We can also have another Resort ID card which is just programmed for our MYW passes. Basically I am saying this has done for us in the past, so I am not here trying to say a bunch of lies.

Disney resorts put ticket purchases on KTTW stock all the time. It is the only thing they can do. Resorts are not currently equipped with the technology or ticket stock to put them on paper tickets.

What you cannot have done is have that remaining one day put on a ticket of any kind if you are purchasing additional new tickets. Tickets resulting from multiple purchases cannot be combined onto a single ticket anywhere, anytime.

Thank you for both confirming that they can put our tickets onto a seperate Resort ID card. I knew they always could because they have done this for us in the past, so it's good to see other Disboards members who also know this can be done.

Not trying to be argumentative here or sarcastic, but....why are you asking if it can be done, and if it can't be done, why, when you say you have already had it done in the past and you have been told by 'Atrium Concierge' CMs that it can be done?? Why ask us here, if official CMs have given you the answer you want?? Just curious. And again, I will say that my 'paper' APs have never given me problem...well, unless you count the three times I had to have them reissued last month before I realized the pass was right behind a huge magnet on my bag!!! Duh...what an idiot!!! I much prefer the Tyvek passes..they take much less room, take more abuse (except for the magnet thing), less trouble for some reason at the turnstyles.

1) If you purchase tickets at the resort, they are printed on room-key stock.
2) They can be on your room key or a "blank room key".
3) These are not associated with a room number.
4) However, you CAN NOT transfer MYW paper tickets to "blank" room-keys.

RustyScupper,
Not meaning to start a fight by any sorts but just want to make sure the correct info is out there. You CAN, in fact, transfer paper tickets to blank room keys (keycard stock). Just wanted to clear that up.

I'm confused. If you know you have done this before then you have the answer and the same question was already posted recently by the OP, then what is the reason for asking again?

Sorry but am I missing something here?
