DH and I are in the process of deciding to buy into DVC but I can't find any information about the mousekeeping and towel situation at the DVC villas. Of couse we love the pampering feel of the Disney hotels, but the DVC really seems to make financial sense for us. We just want to know about mousekeeping. Thanks!

It depends upon the length of your stay. If staying less than 8 days, you will get trash and towel service on day 4 (check-in is day one). Tht is all they do, change towels and take out the trash. If you are staying 8 days or more, y get a full cleaning on day 4, trash and towel on day 8.

Fresh towel packs (4 bath, 4 washcloths, 4 handtowels and a mat) are $6. Additional trash and towel days are $10. Additional full cleaning days vary in price depending upon the size of the unit.

If you have a one bedroom or larger unit, you will have a washer/dryer in your room...many folks simply wash their towels.

Many people go down to the pool without a towel and forget the leave the one or two or three they borrowed, at the pool when they go back to their room. ;)

You can also (for a charge) have housekeeping for all days or any amount of days during your stay.

We took out the trash daily, not much with just two of us in a studio.

The empty bags are in the bottom of the trash baskets. We did not miss the housekeeping portion, just kept the place neat by ourselves.

Towels - at OKW - you have to show your card (either DVC or Room Key - different people asked on different days) and you can get the towels at the pool. We usually get 2 each, one day we asked for 3, got a funny look but... That was check out day and we wanted to shower before going home.

A lot of us also love the fact that housekeeping doesn't come daily -- DH works from the room a lot (yes, even on vacation!) and doesn't like to be disturbed!!

We usually rent a 1 bedroom and run a load of dishes in the dishwasher just before we checkout. This way the house (I mean the Mouse) Keepers only have to put them away. (Usually not many dishes, we always seem to eat out...... Hey it's vacation !) Good Luck on your purchase ! pirate:

Less than 8 days stay gives you trash & towel on day 4. More than 8 day stay gives you full cleaning day 4, trash & towel day 8, full cleaning day 12 and so on, if you are lucky enough to stay more than 12 days at WDW!!!!!! :cool1:

Towels are usually enough for the maximum # of people allowed in the room. If 4 people is the max #, you'll have 4 bath towels, 4 hand towels, 4 washcloths. If 8 people is the max, you'll have 8 of everything, and so on. If you want more towels, I think a pack of 4 more of each type is like $6. If you are in a 1BR or larger, throw them in the wash. I usually put them in the washer in the evening and then throw them in the dryer overnight so that they are clean for the AM shower.

If you want daily housekeeping there is an extra charge which goes up in price depending on the size of the unit.

Truthfully, I don't miss the daily housekeeping. Of course, we tend to be tidy people, and our fellow travelers are tidy people also, so the place is never a huge mess.

We had our first DVC trip earlier this month. I absolutely loved not having daily housekeeping. I am surprised that I feel that way. Yes, I wish I had more towels. Yes, we were much tidier than usual. But many many times in the hotel part we wanted to go back to our room and housekeeping was in the area. We never wanted to be disturbed and didn't want to get in their way, so most of the time we would just hang out - outside.

Was very happy without daily housekeeping, you may be surprised too!
