Pin 343: Ariel The Little Mermaid
I am just curious over something that happened to me at the MK earlier this month.
DH & I were just killing a few minutes before we scoped out a parade curb. ;) We went in the exposition hall and I did a quick CM lanyard check.
One CM was bent over so that her elbows were on the counter she had her head cupped in her hands, not smiling. Real bored looking, to say the least.
I went up to her and asked to see her lanyard. She held it out and she actually had a pin I wanted! It was the Tomorrowland logo pin. I pulled a pin off my lanyard. (Not really looking at it, to be honest.) It was pin #343: Ariel The Little Mermaid, from the Disney Channel set.
I didn't think anything of it. I thnaked her and as I started walking away, REAL LOUD she yells, "This doesn't say Disney on the back! It's not a Disney pin!"
I explained it was-- that it is form the Disney Channel, blah, blah, blah.
She repeats her yell. Another CM comes over. I back up and hurriedly leave, embarrassed and shocked.
It was VERY weird! I was expecting the Disney security to take me away the way she acted. You would have thought I pawned off fake money.
We kept the trade. Now I think I should have just taken the dang pin back and give her another one. But I really was shocked and too busy picking my jaw up off the floor! ;) It never occurred to me to look at the back of the pin prior to that. And I never thought a CM would act in that manner.:p
So, now I'm wondering -- what wording is on the back of that pin, if any?

There were some bootleg copies of those pins around. Is that the right term?? The pins from the Disney Channel 10th Anniversary set have a special stamp on the back. It reads:

"The Disney Channel"
1983-1993
©Disney
Made in China

The back of the pin is not smooth but has small grids.

If the back of your pin that looks like it's from this set, is smooth, with no ©, then it's a bootleg. I know...cause I traded for a Bambi One....off a CM lanyard!!! :D

Well.... Mine WAS a bootleg! Thanks for the info!
I had traded a Bambi too, from the same "set" and had no problem.
INTERESTING!
I better IMMEDIATELY return to WDW and rectify this situation! :jester:

Yeah Barbara.......really...like we're falling for that!!!!
