I read all the stuff about Paypay before I set myself up to receive someone's money for my points. I thought it said "free" for personal accounts.

Here's my question - the person sent me the money it's in my paypal account & over on the far right of the trasaction line, it says "accept" or "deny". When I click on "details", it shows the amount minus a 21.58 fee.

I'm confused - this is a personal account & its for only 800 dollars.

Am I really going to be charged this, if so, I will deny & tell the party to send me a cashier's check.

Did you set your account up to accept credit card payments or cash transfers only? If you accept credit cards then you pay a fee.

Yep, you're reading it right. It's 'free' to pay someone else, it's definitely not free to recieve money from cc's.

There should not be a fee if they are using a cash/debit transaction. If they are using a credit card, and it seems like it with the fee, there is a fee involved with those transactions. It's approximately the fee you're being charged. When I've rented points and given my renter a choice of using Paypal, I always include a fee to cover the fee they will charge me for a credit card transaction. You should first contact your renter and explain why you're going to deny payment before doing it. If the renter really wants to use a credit card, have them cover the fee for you and send you more money, but you'll still receive the $800. If they don't want that, then have them send you a cashiers check or money order.

personal account can RECEIVE MONEY without charge IF THE PAYER SENDS DIRECTLY FROM CHECKING ACCOUT OR PAYPAL BALANCE. any use of cards of any kind and receiver is charged.

yep - she used a credit card & sent me the add'l fee.

Thanks for the info!!!!
