My fiance and I are going to Disney in 28 days!!!!! Yes! We've both had a very rough year and we've been literaly drained these last few weeks, it feels as though we're at the final leg of a marathon. We both have been killing ourselves working. I am taking 5 classes this semester and working a 40 hour work week and he works full time as a financial analyst and has been working overtime. Any suggestions for how to bring a little bit of disney magic into this last strain before the trip? How do you contain yourself only four weeks before?

It does get really hard, but at least you can see the end of that tunnel. I like the idea of movie nights. You view the movies that may mean the most while you are there. It is like studying. And you could try to plan your dinners on those nights around the movies. Spaghetti and meatballs for Lady and the Tramp, etc.

You could also play disney games. At ToysRUs, we got Disney Guess Who (really fun), Disney Scene It (really fun). I really want to get the Magic Kingdom game also. Definitely.

Put out your suitcases and start some minor packing. Make your list and check it twice. And when your tired little body goes to bed, put in a Disney movie and fall asleep with it. I hope you feel completely revived the moment you leave for your WDW vacation. Have a wonderful trip!

:grouphug: 1st take a deep breathe. Then sit down with a cuppa :coffee: Now this might seem a bit "wrong" but try not to stress yourselves out much before you leave. EAT out, buy some micro meals, order in food and set a blanket up in living room to pretend you are having a picnic, make sure you basically have your most FAV food in the house! Snack if you feel like it, just don't deprive yourself since that makes the waiting feel like it is gonna never end. Doesn't haffa cost a lot just be sure you treat yourselves.

BUBBLE bath with candles & Disney music before bed time :this helps you to slow down your brain and settle your body. Good time to cuddle after you are all squeaky clean

I am sure you have all of your plans laid out regarding meals etc ... just look at the sheet and dream of how good it will taste. If you have books that show pictures of the parks look at them together.

PHEW time for me to stop yacking I think! Can you tell that I am used to waiting for things to happen? :cheer2:

You will have a great time!

Congratulations on your upcoming trip--and for working so hard. You both deserve the trip!

One thing you could do is buy some postcards--they don't even need to be Disney ones--and send them to each other over the next few weeks. On the postcards you could just jot down one thing you look forward to doing at WDW together. The person who writes the postcard will have fun imagining the trip, while the person who receives the card will enjoy knowing the writer thinks about him/her during the day. Just make sure you don't write them in front of each other, but during a quick break in your day. Because a postcard only takes a minute or two to write, you could sneak one in during class or lunch, for instance. Then, a few nights before the trip, take some time to read them all together, maybe as you're packing. DH and I love to send postcards and we find that this kind of strategy builds anticipation and intimacy.

I too have been working like a maniac- this is the one of the busiest months of the year at work, but also the last time I have to take my vacation. I have a hard time falling asleep even though I am dead tired b/c I keep thinking about what happened today , or everything i still have to do... SO what I do - and it makes me sound like a 6 year old-
but I try to imagine myself there already. Like what will it look like with a ll of the prayer flags at EE, or I imagine having my picture taken in front of the statue of Walt and Mickey, or I remember a meal we had last time we were there, or how beautiful and happy it is in the "pre-show" area at splash mountain at dusk when all the lights start to come on in the courtyard.
This usually keeps my mind occupied long enough to stop obsessing and before I know it - it's morning and I am another day closer to my vacation! :Pinkbounc HTH

What wonderful suggestions! Julsmom, We own disney scene it and the magic kingdom game. The magic kingdom game is really fun. I highly recommend buying it. Not only that but it makes you memorize the lay out of the park. We bought it about a month before we left last trip and had the whole park down pact by the time of our trip. How fun to have movie nights with food attached!

Ellyn I haven't made my check list yet so that's definately something that I will be doing soon, suprisingly I actually really enjoy making my list and packing, but I do everything ahead of time (unlike my fiance) so I don't get stressed out. He on the other hand is the up till 1am when we have to be up at 3am type he not suprisingly HATES packing haha.

Donald you have just inspired me to go to the mall to pick up some candles and a new disney cd. That sounds like a wonderful idea for after work and especially to me right now because I'm sick! I spend so much time at the computer fantasizing this will be a nice way to absorb everything!

Deekaypay the post card idea is PRICELESS. How cute! I always try to get my fiance to do things like that but he's more of the practical kind of guy. He's the sweetest man in the world but when it comes to romance, well, he's a bit of a dud. But I still love him! I'm going to send him some post cards and hopefully he'll respond!

Potters mom I know exactly what you mean. Whenever I get hyper stressed out with my work load I just try to take a deep breath- wherever I am and try to invision all aspects of disney and have past memories engulf me. It's always such a breath of fresh air. It truly is amazing how so few days spent in one place during a year can have such an impact on our psyche year round and bring us that much peace.

I bought the WDW official album and stuck it in my wife's car back in January when we set the date for our trip. Since then we have ordered three more CDs and DVDs that we listen to and watch and the kids love it. We also play SceneIt - MK Game and three editions of Disney Trivial Pursuit!
I also ordred and saw Song of the South for the first time.

I have a different take on this. Sure, make sure your preparations are in order and you are packed a week or so ahead of time so you don't do double duty the last few days before you go. Be as rested as you can when you leave.

Aside from that, do nothing. Allow the Magic Kingdom to do some magic for you when you get there.
