Can someone get me excited about Coronado Springs?

Wow, I wouldn’t have guessed they were affordable. I remember getting two drinks at a bar in the Swan a couple years back and it was $32 with tip. I actually kept the receipt for a scrap book because it was so outrageous..
You can get Aaa discount at cabana bar, picabu

I think CSR is beautiful, though I haven’t stayed there in years, as I prefer other resorts. Any chance you can rent DVC points at AKV? For our upcoming December trip, a standard studio is cheaper than any of the moderate resorts.

What about the Swan and Dolphin? We have been there many times and are bringing DD age 5 for the first time this month. Deluxe resort, comfy beds, close to two parks and outstanding pools. They have fair AAA rates and I have seen them priced lower than moderates. You can get a room with a balcony which will make you feel deluxe.

You said you would have a car so keep in mind Swan/Dolphin charges $20/night for parking so you have to factor that in as well as the resort fee. Having said that, we love it and have stayed there a number of times, it's not always less than a moderate though it is almost always less than you are going to pay for an Epcot deluxe.

As far as CSR goes, I've stayed there 3 times. We were there the week before Christmas and other than having to use the buses to go to Epcot and HS, we loved it. We were in Casitas 5, our room looked out over the lake, not like you are going to leave your curtain open with the outside hallways but it was pretty coming and going to the room. We didn't have a refurbed room and it was still fine. Yes, there is construction going on but it didn't interfer with us at all. We spent one afternoon at the pool, we enjoy that the moderates have a hot tub at the main pool as opposed to the values not having one and we like the fact that there is a quiet pool in each section. I have stayed in the Casitas and the Cabanas and found both easy to get around to the pool and main building. We ate at the Mayan Grill and loved it.

I have only stayed at moderates and Pop once. CSR is great. I can't wait to stay there again sometime. For that price, I would not worry about possibly not getting any refurbed room. Save the money for other things on your trip and enjoy how pretty CSR is.

CSR was at one point our "home" resort. We stayed there a few years in a row and really liked it.

We happened to go back last Easter. The AP discount rate was too good to pass up (something like $160/night). There was construction, but (at the time), it didn't ruin the sightline, there was no noise and no debris.

Despite a lot of people not liking the Counter Service, I think Pepper Market is very good. I love southwestern food, so I really enjoyed it.

At night, as previous posters mentioned, it's really nice. There's lights near the lobby and a cool outdoor bar.

Pros:
- Beautiful resort that sticks to its theme. We went to Utah and Nevada last year and thought it was so well-themed.
- Big resort with a lot of different levels of rooms
- The pool is one of the better moderate pools
- One of the few moderate resorts with a nice clear jogging path, if you're into it
- Only moderate with a gym

Cons:
- Big resort that's entirely outdoors
- Multiple bus stops (request Casitas 4. If memory serves me right, it's right near the first bus stop coming from the parks)
- It doesn't have much Disney theming
- There's often conventions. It can be weird and take you out of the Disney world when you see business people running around

It's tough to say and it'll come down to your preferences. Is being close to the park and have deluxe accommodations important to you? Then do Boardwalk Villas. Is the Disney theming and saving some cash important? Then stay AoA. Are you just happy to be there and looking to book a trip? Book Coronado. Coronado won't be a bad stay by any means. I'd say it's average when compared to the other resorts you mentioned—and if the price is right, that drives the value up even higher.

We are deluxe people and LOVE Coronado!! The atmosphere, food and rooms are wonderful. The pool area is beautiful and very relaxing. People complain about the size but it never bothered us. We will be there on the 9th and can’t wait.

We had to go with AOA in August 2018....not sure about it but we got a good deal.

If the construction and possibly un-refurbished rooms are too concerning to you that's one thing, but once everything is finished you should look at CSR for future trips! It's my families all-time favorite resort (although we haven't stayed at very many delux). The theming is wonderful, its quiet, and feels like you're truly on vacation! Plus you could save that extra money from the great rates and do something extra special and magical with it
