Can someone explain Touring Plans to me?

I've been playing around with it. I'm pretty sure we're going to do a half day the day we get in so I plugged in the attractions we would like to do to see what I get.

I skipped breaks and meals because I'm just not that detailed.

Tp has me going from Big Thunder Ranch over the pirates, then Fantasyland, then back over to BTRR then Tomorrowland then back to Fantasy, oh and then over to Critter, then back to Fantasy and Tomorrow.

Is that right? Right now it's set to average walking speed and balanced. I know I can edit, but is there a logic to all this?

Touring Plans really is pretty useless for DL. In fact, I have used them for DW, where they focus much more of their attention on, and they suck pretty bad for there too. Sorry, I'm really a nice person, just don't care for their advice. It just usually is wrong.

I have always found hem most useful for crowd calendars and wait times while there, at least at WDW. This will be my first time at DLR and I just re-subscribed and I am playing around with it too.

I outlined a trip on TP a few year back and printed it off. It was confusing at the thought of having to read a script of where to go next on the trip. Decided to just wing-it once we were there.

With the feature of "Ask Otto" you can at least check and see what the line wait is before you cross-trek for an attraction.

TP planning will help you get an idea of how to tour the parks.

I think it's best to input the things you want to do in the order you want to do them. Then click evaluate not optimize. And also have an extra hour or two set aside for meals and not being able to keep up with the minute to minute plan.

Try rearranging to your own schedule and not optimize. It will tell you all the wait times, etc. from what you created. Then you can move it around a little bit more, until it is good enough for you. That's the way I use it. Of course with my family, once we get there after the first couple of moves, all bets are off.

Not related to DL, so bear with me, but just a friendly suggestion for you tink, try using easywdw for your next DW trip. I have used them both, as have lots of folks going to DW, and the overwhelming consensus is easywdw is better. If you read his site, you will see his reasons for his crowd calendars, and they make a whole lot of sense.

I love the Touring Plans site, but I've never had a subscription. I use it for looking at average wait times. I don't need someone to make a plan for me. I know which rides need FP and which rides get busy fast, but I don't want to criss-cross the park all day. It's a lot of walking without going all the way to Splash Mountain and then back to Space Mountain. We have to rider swap because our kids are young (DD is tall enough now, but DS has a few years), so usually one of us grabs FP while the other rides.
