Can someone explain point Transfers to me?

I read a thread on the rent/trade board wherein someone said they wanted to transfer points for $10 point, and were not interested in renting. Could someone explain the difference to me? With a point transfer, the points are actually given to me (I make the reservation) right? So does that mean I could bank them (these points must be used by January or banked, I need them for next May) and still use the original home resort (BCV) 11 month booking window, or do these points effectively become SSR (my home resort) points once banked?

Transfered points are supposed to retain their home resort and will expire on the transfering owners use year. Supposed to, but the computer at MS seems to not be able to do that without an over ride. The transfered points retain the original owner's use year, so they CAN be banked by the new owner, but they will still expire on their original use year, and not the new owner's.

Based on your description I assume these are 2007 Feb UY points.

As I understand it: The transferred points are supposed to retain all of there charateristics when transferred i.e. bankability, UY & Home RESORT. There are reports of computer glitches which cause the Home Resort and or UY associated with the points to not be readily apparent when a reservation is later being made (they sort of morph into looking like they have the transferred into accounts Home resort, UY or both per the rumours instead of retaing the original characteristics). You make and mange the reservations as you would with any other points.

Assuming these are 2007 FEB UY points they would be bankable at this time - if they are banked 06 or borrowed 08 points they would not be banakable as tehy have already been transfered between years. There is now a limit of 1 transfer per account per year (either 1 in or 1 out but not both) ... Thats what I understand others with more direct experience will likely post soon.
