Right now I'm trying to get the necessary UPC's to order the MM pin lanyard that is on the Rice Krispies cereal box for my grown DD..

She's thinking she might like to get invovled in this but we're not sure how it works.. When we were in Disney in 2001, she bought some pins in the parks - as well as at the Outlet stores. Right now she has them on her MM safari hat..

I've read on here about wearing your lanyard to Disney - and something about even trading with CM's.. Could someone please elaborate? Do people only wear pins on their lanyard that their willing to trade? I'm really confused..

And are there only certain kinds you should buy? Is anyone ever interested in the ones that come from the Disney Outlets?

Thanks so much.. She doesn't really NEED yet another Disney collection but.......... You know how it is.. :)

We started this with my DS last trip and it worked great. He only wore a few pins every day, ones he wanted to trade. This way we didn't worry about any getting lost and it wasn't as heavy to wear. The wonderful things about the outlet and sale priced pins is that the CM's have to trade with you as long as they don't already have the one you're trading. If you're just starting out you can find TONS of pins on the CM's lanyards that are really neat. They will also tell you if you pick a more valuable pin to NOT trade it away.

any castmember that is wearing a lanyard has to trade with you the ones on their lanyard. You will find rare CMs that will have special ones they wear other places. They do not have to trade them.

You will find some castmembers are really into it and some could care less.

One suggestion is that if you trade one that has a rubber back on it and the one you are trading for has the metal back, make sure you change the backs. The castmember will usually suggest that to you.

Somedays you will find treasures and some days nothing

Guests can trade what they want whereever they are wearing it. If you run into a pin shark you will know it quickly.

it can be fun and addictive

great idea about wearing a few at a time. DD's got so heavy we ended up with it in the backpack most of the day. Maybe I"LL take the two Kelloggs Lanyards and keep the keeper pins at the hotel.

Disney has a pin trader on the park that looks like a reporter, he is one person, that if you trade with him, he will give you every pin that matches. you cant see the pins he is going to trade with you, as they are all turned backwards. So like you say I like that one and its a cat one. he will give you all his cats pins.. my mom and daughter last Oct met him and traded with him. my mom got 5 and my daughter got 2. for one of their pins. So make sure to wear your Lanyards to show that your a pin trader. you never know you may run into him...

DW will wear a few attention grabbers on her lanyard when she is doing serious pin trading. She keeps a bag of her traders for CM lanyards in her pockets.

One suggestion. DW keeps all of traders not on lanyards in some type of protective shield. We me a very nice couple last week when there. The wife was the trader. DW saw some pins she would have traded for but this lady had all her pins in a big bag. No protection or any thing. The pins were pretty beat up.

You can tell quickly those that take even fun pin trading seriously!
