It sounds wonderful...will someone please describe it in more detail for me? What is the food and atmosphere? Is it a fun event? Something that we'd remember?

Thank you!! :flower: :flower:

I loved Ohana's for breakfast though I ate there about two years ago now. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great and my little cousin adored the characters decked out in their Hawaiian outfits. I persoanlly found it a great start to our day. Here's a review for our breakfast, my Dad wrote this up for his site: http://pscalculator.net/psreview_014.shtml - Hope this helps!

It is good, I would recommend it for sure.

They start you off with some coconut/pineapple bread. (yummy!)

They will bring an appetizer platter. It has things like a salad with a lime/cilantro vineagrette, green beans, chicken wings, stuffed wontons - you could actually make a meal from this alone.

Then they will bring around skewers of different meats - pork, beef, turkey and shrimp. They come around often and you can get additional helpings as you want.

There is a hula hoop competition and coconut hockey race for the kiddies and a ukelele player. Everyone refers to you as "cousin". It is a nice astmosphere and pretty good food.

I soooo recommend this place. The breakfast is great, no to mention to ambiance. I've been there twice and I'm hoping on going back this July. It's lots of fun for the whole family...in fact, the more in your party the better, IMO.

The contemporary has a great breakfast as well. I used to stay there very often as as child (celebrated my 3, 4, & 5th b-day there). The characters appear often and the food is yummy. The food is somewhat buffet style. It's a classic resort with unbeatable transportation (Monorail). :jumping1:

We are one of the few people on the Dis who don't like 'Ohana. :) We've eaten there several times, and while the first few times we enjoyed it, it just kept going downhill. Now we don't go there. It can be really, really loud - they do coconut races and hula hoop competitions and stuff for the kids, and a guy on a mic leads them. They stopped serving our favorite bread (it had an herb spread and came w/ raspberry sauce) and our favorite appetizer (some sort of noodle dish; can't remember exactly). We don't like chicken wings or salad, so that's out. The potstickers are ok, but nothing to write home about. The main course, meat on the skewers, has been dry and overcooked pretty much every time we've eaten there.

For a similar, quieter and better-tasting experience, I'd recommend finding a Brazilian steakhouse close to home. They serve meat on skewers, too, in the same all-you-can eat style, but I've never been to one that served it dry and overcooked like at 'Ohana.

'Ohana has a nice, polynesian atmosphere (very islandy feeling). The kids usually really like the way the food is served and enjoy the activities during the dinner. The food is just okay. I prefer the appetizer stuff that comes over the meat. I've eaten at 'Ohana twice and found all the meats to be tough and overcooked. The turkey is probably the best, but still dry. Fortunately, they will bring as much of the other stuff as you want and I usually fill up on that. It's not top-notch food, but we would probably still go there.

And if you time it right and sit near the windows you can see Wishes.

Just a side note...if you have kids and they participate in the coconut race &/or hula hooping, it's not actually a competition. My DD was a little "miffed" that they didn't proclaim a winner. :sad2:

I will definately have to prepare my very very competitive 6 yr old DD of that fact lol. :rotfl2:

There's no WINNER for the hula hoop contest? That is just WRONG. My DS is an amazing hula hooper, and he would be more than miffed if he hooped and was not rewarded for his efforts. Hmm.

We actually have two different restaurants here (Texas de Brazil and Fogo de Chao) that serve the meats on skewers. We can't afford to go there much, but when we had a gift certificate we did enjoy it! The meat was very juicy and tender. Sounds like O'hana could use some tips from the chefs!

Now I am back to hemming and hawing about this. I was having a little trouble fitting all of the dinner PS's into our park plans, so maybe we will skip dinner at O'hana. If I want dry, tough meat I can always cook some myself!! :rotfl:

We last went to 'Ohana in May of last year, and had a great experience. We were fortunate to not experience the dry meat that others mentioned. Everything we had was fresh and hot, we were eating late in the evening and it wasn't overly crowded, so maybe that helped.
