Can someone explain how to rent points?

My curiosity is being piqued... would love to know how this "Renting points" thing works!

Actually the "DVC thing" and renting points are two different things.

DVC is very much like a timeshare. Instead of purchasing a specific week you purchase "points" which are renewed annually.

Some DVC members find that due to unexpected situations that they can not use all thier points. In this instance, some member will "Rent the points". What this means is that the member will make a reservation for you with his/her points in exchange for some sort of consideration (usually cash).

All details of the transaction are between the member and the person wanting to rent the points. This is not a Disney transaction and they will have no part in it. The DIS allows people that wish to rent thier points and people who want to rent points to meet on the Rent/Trade Board.

Thanks a lot. I used the calculator and found that I would need either 92 points for VWL or 72 points at OKW. DH and I would be interested in a Studio for September 18-23 (checking out the 24th)

How do I rent points? I have seen the listings on the other board, but, how does the transaction generally work?

Basically, once you know when you want to go, which resort you want and what type of room, just post the request on the Rent/Trade Board. You can also respond to any member's offer to rent. The transaction itself is negotiable between the member and renter.
