Can someone explain how I should do this?

In '08 we'll need a 2 bdrm at BCV. I will be shy 1 pt. to make the 11 month window. I have to get a transfer because I am borrowing pts. My sister has DVC at BCV as well and I am sure she will transfer me the point. Her UY is Feb. and and ours is June. I want to book right at the 11 month window. When should I ask her to do the transfer? Can I do it June 2, 2007 and bank it into 2008? I get so confused with that whole thing and neither one of us have ever done it..but I want to make sure we can use that point. Thanks so much!

If you both own at BCV then you don't need a transfer. Use yr has nothing to do with booking. you can book at 11 months and link you ressies. you booked the nts your pts will handle and they book the rest.

I wouldn't do a transfer for 1 pt because you only get 1 transfer.

My sister isn't coming with us my DD's best friend and my DH's sister are. I'll need that extra point and I know my sister would transfer it to me. (The new 1 trxfr/year in and out isn't a problem because we never do it anyway.) But I 'll need that point and I just need to figure out when we should call so I have the extra point in my acct. when I book.

That's OK thank you anyway. Can I ask my sister to transfer the point to me in June 2007 (My UY) and then bank that 1 point to 2008 so I can use it?

I would call MS to confirm your understanding. From my understanding if she transfers her Feb 07 points to you they will go into your June 06 use year. If she transfers her Feb 08 points they will go into your June 07 use year. Transfer points are suppose to retain their use year and home resort but unless they fixed the computer sysytem this was done manually. Before I would do a transfer I would tell MS what you hope to accomplish and do it all at once. If you bank later they may give you a hard time since they will have to manually look things up. Also I do remember that something like when you bank points then they might convert to the use year of your contract so becareful.

Also that 1 point transfer will use up both of your one transfer per year. You may want to consider doing one night on cash. If you book at the 11 month window you may be lucky and get the 25% discount which may be a good value for a Friday or Saturday night.

I called MS this evening and the CM said I should have DSis transfer the 1 pt in mid to late July '07 (we'd both be in 2007 UY her Feb..me June). Then I could call within 24-48 hrs and make my ressies at the 11 month window for late June 2008 2 bdrm. But this doesn't sound right to me. Would that pt be in the 2007 UY so I couldn't use it in June 2008? She also said transferred pts. cannot be banked or borrowed. Doing a 1 time transfer isn't a problem for me or my DSis. Neither one of us ever transfer points because we use them, bank or borrow them.

I would call MS again and ask for clarification. In the recent past they have allowed transferred points to be banked - although , in the original documents that was not allowed. Since you are talking about a trip during your June,08 Use Year, you must use points available from June, 2008 - May,2009, which means you can borrow from your 2009 Use Year for that trip. You could bank points from your June,07 Use Year, use points from you 2008 UY and borrow from your June, 2009 Use Year. If that won't be enough points, you would need a transfer into your 2008 UY.

If transferred points truly cannot be banked, you can also have your sister transfer points from her 2008 UY into your 2008 UY to make that reservation. Transfers are usually made from and to the same Use Year- regardless of which month is the basis.

I'd call MS again and see if you get a different answer - it may be worth asking for a supervisor if there is any doubt from the CM you speak with.

A reservation for June, 2008 can't be made until July, 2007 - so you do have plenty of time to get all of this straight with MS in advance.

I would call again tomorrow and see if they tell you the same thing. I had several transfers in before they changed the rule to one transfer. I banked some of those points several weeks back. Also when the other persons use year was earlier than mine the points went into my prior use year so I would definitly call again.

I had 2 pts. transferred into my account last Jan. so I could make an 11 month ressie this Thanksgiving. It was a very smooth process. Just have your sister call with your info a few days before you want to make the transfer. MS will help her figure out which points and UY are needed. Then you can call and make your ressie. Since you are all related (and no worry about privacy) you could probably do it as a 3 way call all at once if you really wanted to. This whole process sounded complicated to me the first time but it went easily. Good luck!

So i can have her transfer 1 point from her Feb.2008 UY into my June 2008 UY (and I can do this in June '07?) so I can then call MS in July 2007 and book at the 11 month window for June 2008? I hope I have this right now. See this is why we don't transfer.

In all we have enough points to book at 7 months (we have 2 contracts 1 at BCV and 1 at VWL), BUT I'll be 1 pt shy of BCV pts to make the 11 month window and that's why I need the transfer. I am borrowing all of 2009 points already to make the ressie so that's why I can't borrow. And I assume all the 2 bdrms go fast at BCV.

I would call MS when the time comes and do it early. I just called MS and still got the impression that Feb 08 points would be deposited into your June 2007 use year. They did say that transfered points can be banked. You probably will not know for sure if everything will work until the time comes so I would call several weeks prior to the 11 month window and tell them what you hope to do and make sure it is all done in one transaction.

Thanks everyone! That's what I am going to do. My DSis already said she'd give me the point. I'll just call MS back around May and see what they tell me to do. I wish all my points were with 1 resort then this wouldn't be an issue. I mainly want BCV for SAB, but I can always get a BWV preferred view (hopefully) at 7 month mark and then I wouldn't need a transfer and I could use my VWL points too.
